Gilt Hollow is a must read for teens and adults. Lorie Langdon grabs the reader's attention on page one and never lets go.

I am so SO new to reading mystery/suspense books. I like to feel warm and fuzzy rather than creeped out and paranoid. But I AM trying to branch out more...and while Gilt Hollow IS an excellent story and talks a lot about forgiveness...there was not a lot of faith woven into the story in my opinion. The writing was smooth and flowed nicely. And even though most of the book itself has little action, it was never dull or slow. Always something new to uncover, always one more piece falling into place right where it needed to be. Although I can not relate directly to the circumstances surrounding Willow and Ashton, I can relate to the panic attacks (thankfully mine have gotten MUCH better in recent months) and to miscommunication. How many arguments, how much confusion, could we save by communicating efficiently? As the story begins to take shape we start wondering "who done it?" and as I kept reading I really didn't know how it was going to end. I read this one super fast because it just sucks you in and page after page, chapter after just NEED to know more! The characters possessed age appropriate personalities due to the circumstances they landed in. And while the kisses (and yes...closets are involved...those are ranked among my favorite!) emit a good dose of passion, I believe the author kept it clean and appropriate for Young Adults. If you haven't read mystery/suspense books yet but are wanting to get your feet wet in the genre, I do recommend Gilt Hollow. There are moments of pure creepiness and some gory descriptions...just as a heads up, but all in all a VERY well written book. I received a complimentary copy of Gilt Hollow from the publishers. I was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

Lorie Langdon, coauthor of the popular Doon Series, rolls out her own Gilt Hollow. The plot keeps you guessing and should satisfy demanding mystery buffs. Both hero and heroine are well developed and interesting characters, even if the hero is somewhat idealized in his attitude toward the heroine. The romantic elements are compelling and a little steamy, but this is a fun clean read.

This isn't my typical genre, but I am so glad that I decided to read Gilt Hollow. There's lots of mystery and suspense in this book, which was very interesting and kept me guessing, but there's also some romance for readers like me who think romance makes everything a little better . The characters are very intriguing, even the bad ones. You can't help but to ping pong around in your mind who you think the true killer might be. Even some of the seemingly nicer characters come under suspect a few times and really make you think about people's ulterior motives. Ashton was a very captivating main character and really made me care about him and the fact that he was falsely convicted. His and Willow's friendship/romance was very starcrossed lovers meets childhood sweetheart and I absolutely ate it up. I read through this book fairly quick because I just could not get enough. I think you would enjoy this book just as much as I did if you are a fan of YA with friendship, mystery, suspense, and some romance. ** I received this book free from the publisher through the BookLook Bloggers book review bloggers program. Gilt Hollow had me hooked right from the beginning. Initially, I wasn't a huge fan of Ashton, but I was so interested in learning his story and finding out what happened on the night he supposedly committed murder. I eventually grew to love all of the characters, as well as the town of Gilt Hollow itself. What a fun town Gilt Hollow was. I would absolutely love to live in this PSL-obsessed, save-the-whales, knit-a-scarf-for-a-tree kind of town (no, I'm not making this up). Gilt Hollow had the perfect amount of suspense for me. I am a big chicken, so I can't read anything too scary. But this was just the right amount of suspense to keep me on the edge of my seat and wondering who the killer was...without keeping me awake at night. I definitely had multiple theories going as I was reading and I really couldn't figure out what would happen in the end. The only thing that I didn't love about this book was the romance. But honestly, I am a cynic who hates romance in my books. So if you don't mind romance, you might not have a problem with it at all. The romance didn't overshadow the action in the book, and I was rooting for Willow and Ashton to become friends again. I just enjoyed the suspenseful storyline so much more than the romance that I wanted to skip the flirting and find out who the killer was.

I loved this story! Ashton and Willow’s journey to find answers keeps you on the edge of your seat. The push and pull of their feelings for one another makes you keep turning the pages. The desperation for answers, the hope of trust, and the desire to clear your name and gain the faith of those you care about pulls you into the feelings of the characters and you can’t help but hope that it all works out for them. I would recommend this book to a friend. I received this book free from the publisher through the BookLook Bloggers book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. Four years ago, Willow’s best friend, Ashton, was sent to Juvenile Detention for manslaughter. She hasn’t heard anything from him in all that time, though she sent him dozens of letters and defended his innocence to anyone who would listen. Now, though, Ashton has been released from prison and is coming back to their town Gilt Hollow for revenge against those who falsely accused him. What does that mean for Willow, who Ashton believes deserted him? Gilt Hollow by Lorie Langdon was an interesting book. It is a YA romance and mystery, the characters seniors in high school and the story revolving around the mystery of who is really the murderer. The murder mystery part of the plot was very intriguing. Someone was framing Ashton for the weird things that were happening in the town and high school—a shredded football uniform, a robbery, and more. The characters eventually started working together to discover who was framing him, and their discoveries kept me in suspense throughout. The setting was wonderfully described and used to the story’s advantage, as were the events and quirks in the town. I wasn’t always sure what to make of the romance though. We have this young man bent on revenge and this sweet girl trying to survive high school, and it was cute how everything turned out. But there were times when I wondered, with the knowledge that Willow had at the time, whether she should want a relationship with Ashton at all. He seemed creepy and cruel at times, though some of that was just her perception of him without all the facts, and made me wonder about the healthiness of their relationship. Everything turned out all right at the end, though. The characters were perfect for each other. I enjoyed this novel and recommend it to those who enjoy YA contemporary novels. I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Thrilling. Addictive. Loved. That's the answer to the question, "How would you describe this book in three words?" Five Stars! Using more words could result in a never ending torrent of book love from yours truly... But lets give it a whirl! Willow is your average girl, yet she's got some serious issues. Ashton is at the root of those issues, or is he? When he comes walking back into her life, it's like dynamite. And I don't just mean that because their romance is so. stinking. swoony. Gilt Hollow is a thrilling mystery! Each time I picked up this book, I was sucked into the story. All of a sudden, a hundred pages had been turned. And I desperately craved more! Like I said, the romance was total swoonsville. The thrill resembled the first drop of a roller coaster. The mystery was intoxicating. While there's always someone who can spot the Big Twist, I doubt anyone could anticipate every twist in this mysterious beauty. Highly recommend! *Reminder* Books published under the Blink imprint are intended for a general readership without being overtly Christian. My more conservative readers should note that there is a little bit of language, and eccentric is an understatement for this town and her inhabitants. However, what I found between these pages were two people struggling to find the truth in the midst of their darkness, and find it and God in the process. Lorie Langdon is co-author of the popular (read fantastic) Doon series. Gilt Hollow is her first solo novel. Read. Them. All. I received a copy of Gilt Hollow by Lorie Langdon published by Blink from BookLook Bloggers. All opinions expressed are my own.

I absolutely love Lorie Langdon as both a person and an author. I've had the pleasure of meeting her four times because she's an Ohio author and attends all of the Ohio author events. Each time it's so nice talking to her about her books and I definitely couldn't wait for the chance to read her newest release! Ever since Willow's best friend was sent to jail for murdering one of their classmates, no one has let Willow forget. Willow has tried to continue on with her life, but when Ashton shows back up in Gilt Hollow determined to find out who really committed the murder he was found guilty for, Willow finds herself drawn back into her best friend's world. Ashton will do anything to show Willow he's the good guy he was before he went away. The closer they get to uncovering the truth about the murder four years ago, though, the more danger seems to follow them around every corner… For the start of fall, this book was the perfect book to pick up. Talk about creepy! Ever since Ashton came back into town, Willow has been seeing some spooky things and receiving some spooky messages. I was definitely intrigued by the whole mystery behind who really committed the murder and who was trying to sabotage Ashton and get him sent back to jail. There were a lot of eery moments where you didn't know who was going to pop up around the corner or if the characters were going to make it out alive. Of course, me being me, I was in this one for the romance and I really adored Ashton and Willow's relationship. Willow wrote to Ashton while he was in jail and it was so cute watching them get to know each other now that they were older and more mature. And how yummy Ashton had gotten since he was in jail? Yeah, no wonder Willow started to feel butterflies whenever he was around! I loved how they teamed up to solve the mysteries plaguing Gilt Hollow and how determined Willow was to help him, no matter how dangerous things became. Overall, I really enjoyed Lorie Langdon's newest novel. While I felt like the big reveal could have been more *wow* at the end, I still really enjoyed the mystery, the suspense, and the adorable romance. If you're looking for a spooky read this fall and really love that good romance in your stories, you have to check out Gilt Hollow!

GILT HOLLOW is a story about friendship and redemption for a teen wrongly accused of murder. Readers can expect to enjoy the small-town setting, suspenseful feel, great dialogue, and some serious chemistry. A great read for those who enjoy mystery, suspense with some sweet moments and romance mixed in! I loved these characters! Willow and Ashton both have had to deal with the situation in different, but no less traumatizing, ways. I liked that everything wasn't easy for them because it came across as authentic, especially in the beginning when they're unsure of where they stand with each other. Their personalities are so opposite, but yet they compliment each other so well. I especially loved their banter! It was so fun!! Then there was also the sizzling chemistry. I also really liked all the side characters, particularly Willow's friend Lisa and Willow's mom. I appreciated how well the story was balanced. It doesn't feel overly heavy even though you can feel a constant undercurrent of danger. There was humor, friendship, family, great dialogue, and romance, balanced with information about the murder, trying to figure out who was the villain, and then the constant danger Wil and Ash are in. I would have liked to have had a little more development in some areas. I also found that a few things didn't quite work for me, but they were minimal. In the end, was it what I wished for? I wasn't sure what to expect from this one, but it ended up being a very engrossing read. I'm looking forward to seeing what the author will be releasing next! Content: Some innuendo and violence. Source: Received a complimentary ARC from the publisher through the tour host, which did not affect my review in any way.

(reviewed by Jenna) I was really nervous to read GILT HOLLOW at first because the cover looked really, really scary, but once I started, it was really interesting. I was drawn in with the first chapter. There were some parts were the characters were described with such intensity that it scared the wits out of me, but there are some funny parts, too. It was set around Halloween so when it came to that part it did get scary because the murders started getting unraveled and that just made it all the more scarier. It was a really, really, book. Really loved it.
