In this eggstraordinary adventure, packed with puns and Kevin O'Malley's trademark humor, a chicken dreams of buried treasure in a distant barn somewhere across the road. When he and his pal fly the coop and set out on a journey to find the golden corn, their quest reminds us that sometimes we need to leave home to find out that things we really treasure are right where we started from.

In a taste of the "corn" to follow, the front cover of Gimme Cracked Corn and I Will Share proclaims that it is, "egg-secuted by Kevin O'Malley." As a fan of all things "corny," I loved it, however, it may be another one of those children's books wasted on children! Only older children will get all of the "yolks', but younger ones may still find it "punny."
In a variation on the classic Jewish story of The Dream and the Treasure, Chicken dreams of cracked corn buried under a pink pig sleeping in a barn. When he journeys there, the pig tells the chicken that he dreams of cracked corn buried in a chicken coop. The chicken returns home, finds the corn, and shares it with his barnyard friends. The old jokes will probably go over the heads of most young readers.
