Overview

Girl in the Shadows (Shadows Series #2) by V. C. Andrews

Some secrets survive the light of day. Others should stay lost in darkness forever. The family saga that began with April Shadows continues!

April Taylor wasn't a little girl anymore -- but who was she really? The home she shared with her parents and her older sister, Brenda, may have been filled with turmoil, but it was the only home she knew. Now, with nowhere to go in the wake of losing her mother and father, April had to grow up fast as she embarked on an odyssey of heartbreak and betrayal. It was mere chance that led her to the secluded home of a kindly elderly woman and her deaf teenaged granddaughter, Echo. There, April found a shelter from her mixed-up life, and from the confusion that severed her relationship with Brenda, after an encounter with Brenda's girlfriend, Celia. But when a dangerous couple arrives with greedy intentions, April discovers they will take advantage of her very special friendship with Echo to get what they want. Now, April's survival depends on being true to the one person she's never fully accepted: herself.

I have read andrews all my life and the only thing i can say is this ghost writer needs to get new story lines. Each book is the same story just with different characters. Nothing great and new like i keep hoping. I keep trying to read new ones but each time they get worse. i wouldn't tell anyone to read these books anymore.

I can't believe how awesome this book was. I hope that your coming books are just as great as the old ones. Yet again V.C. Andrews writes another outstanding novel.

it would be so nice to read a v.c.andrews book again. This book is so far from andrews books. the family needs to find a new and exciting writer one that has the same writing ability as v.c. had. it is a waste of money to buy this book, just read the last few and you would have read this one.

I have been reading V.C. Andrews' novels from the very beginning and this ghost writer should be replaced. The language and style is not V.C. Andrews. Her books were written in the style of her time and that is what made it imaginable and worth reading. Maybe the ghost writer needs to take time to know who V.C. Andrews was and read her books to understand and write the way she did then sales and reviews might improve.

Each book that comes out gets worse. I have read every book that has been published by Andrews but I may stop reading them.It has been years since the ghost writer started. Either get a new ghost writer or call these series finished.

This book is a terrible disappointment. The writer is a 'substitute' for Andrews-- a poor choice. The dialogue is unsophisticated and unrealistic, and is saturated with cliches. The characters are poorly developed, and their personalities change whenever it suits to move the plot along. The attempt to create a magical and mysterious mood serves only as an absurd distraction from the plot. The writing seems more of a middle school student's fantasy than a novel. I don't recommend this book for anyone, even for people with too much time on their hands.
