This book was recommended to me by my hair dresser who is 20 years younger than me. I thought prior to reading that its content might not apply to me a fifty plus woman. I was wrong. It is a must read with hard truths and inspiring personal stories. It has made me think about whats keeping me from succeeding in all areas of my life.

Each chapter was better than the last. The book spoke to me in so many ways!

This book is real. She pours out her sadness to give you hope through yours. She doesn’t try to sell you some miracle self help book. She speaks as though you (the reader) is her friend that she genuinely wants to succeed. I loved every page and will read over and over.

Excellent book! A definite must-read for every single woman in the whole entire world. Seriously. Hollis does a beautiful job laying out ugly truths and encouraging the reader to make a better life. As she says, STOP waiting for someone else to fix your life. Take care of your body. Go all-in towards your goals. Stop comparing yourself to others. No excuses. Be a good human and treat other humans with kindness and respect. Cry. Laugh. Have fun and be silly. Love. EAT. Have sex. Stop judging people. Lift each other up. Embrace the chaos and don't you EVER give up. Determine what you want your life to be like and go get 'em.

Girl, Wash Your Face By Rachel Hollis Easy to read: Yes Life changing: Yes Inspiring: Yes Full of truths: Yes Down to earth: Yes Yes, Yes, Yes to this book. I want to buy it for every girl I know young and old. I think that Rachels honesty throughout this book is what makes it so special. We are all in need of her words and I hope that you read this book! Perspective: 31 yr old, wife to my high school sweetheart, mother of 2 boys (3 and 7), casual Occupational Therapy Assistant, a sufferer of anxiety/depression, and most important Jesus freak. I can say that this book was read in almost an evening and got me all pumped I couldn't go to sleep. Not to steal the phrase but just do it. I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

"This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review." Ok, so this book that I am about to write a review on has been on Amazon's most read books list for about 34 weeks. That intrigued me and I decided to check it out. Now clearly this book is written for women and I had no business picking it up but it's popularity made me forget gender specificity and go for it anyways. At it's fundamental level this book is a peer-to-peer advise from Rachel Hollis (if you don't know who she is like I didn't, I suggest you Wiki her) to women who are dealing with some unpleasant things that come with being a woman. Ms. Hollis uses examples and events from her own life to show how she dealt with such issues. Although, apart from may be two or three women specific issues, most of the advise can be equally be dispensed to men as well who are trying to better themselves. I personally feel the advise in this book is pretty gender neutral. So if you are looking for some motivation to start out your new year then this book might provide you some. Overall, it's a quick read and in my opinion almost everybody can relate to the subject matter as it deals with issues such as habits, dealing with childhood trauma, motherhood issues, balancing work and home life, etc.

MY THOUGHTS: 1. I believe that self-help books are personal. Some words or chapters might strike a cord with some people and others with other types of people. As such, my experience with this book might not be yours, but I’ll explain how I felt anyway: 2. The introduction was STUNNING. The author managed to raise my hopes, make me think and had me EXCITED for what came next. As she spoke about how the only thing standing in between you and everything you want in life is YOU, and spoke about how she was going to break down the lies we’ve been telling ourselves all our life, I genuinely thought that this book would be something that would make me feel and think. 3. I jumped into the first ‘Lie’ almost immediately after, and then put the book down to try and absorb it and then, the next day, picked it up again to dive into the next lie. 4. Now, at the end I sincerely feel that Girl, Wash Your Face was this rushed book, attempting to dissemble years’ worth of self-inflicted damage in just a few pages. While the opening chapter left me inspired, the rest of the book was exactly the opposite - rushed and uninspiring. 5. If this book was supposed to make you believe that YOU can be everything you want, I’m not sure it did. The phrase, ,b>“easier said than done” came to my mind more times than I can count, because through the rushed explanations that were more statements than explanations I just didn’t believe, after a while. 6. I did take away one thing from the book, at least partially, though, and that is that only WE can control what we make of our lives. Would I recommend this book? Like I said before, self-help books are so personal and I can’t say that a book that didn’t help me won’t help you but I’d only recommend it if you’ve read the synopsis and think it’s really something you need in your life.

This is a great book. Once I started reading this book I didn’t want to put the book down until the end. I can’t wait to read then next book by this author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Insightful. Even if I don’t agree with all of it there are some key takeaways. Recommend to everyone.

There is at least one chapter in this book for every woman. Keep reading. I didn't relate to some chapter but I also didn't know how much I needed other chapters. I can see why this book is a big hit and now I'm definitely a fan of Rachel!

This book is life changing! Rachel has opened my eyes on so many topics and on so many levels. I love her raw honesty and straight forward advice. I need this no nonsense approach to make me see that I control the outcome of my life with my own decisions and actions. I am not the 16 year old girl that was was hurt and abandoned anymore. I will be rereading this book over and over again to study and learn to tackle each topic one by one! Thank you Rachel for sharing your struggles to help us all see that we are not alone!

I was somewhat skeptical about this book at first. But with each sentence I keep identifying with every single word! This book gave me goose bumps, made me laugh, cry and helped turn a light back on that had gone off a long time ago. I didn’t want the book to end lol!! I will be reading this over and over again and giving it to my daughters for Christmas!

OMG! You should just stop reading the reviews NOW and get started on reading this book. It is simply amazing. Rachel speaks right into your soul. Literally, each chapter gets better and better with every page turn. I typically take forever to read a book. Not that I don't love to read, I just don't afford myself the time. This book was something I couldn't put down. I loved it and I find myself recalling things Rachel says in the book throughout the hours of my days. It's so real. So needed. So perfect. Buy a copy for yourself and share it with any friends you love, because it's just that good. It's been life-changing for me.

I have never been a "raving fan" about any media in my life until I read this book. I have given copies of this book to my sister, my mom, my best girlfriends, my boss, my GRANDMOTHER. This book should be mandatory reading in college because it speaks so much truth into the souls of women who would otherwise go on to live fear-based lives. I cannot say it enough: this book will make you deep dive into the self-growth space and challenge you to be the very best possible version of yourself. Read. This. Book. Or you know... keep living that half effort life, Pam.
