Overview

Provocative, sexy, darkly funny, fresh and surprising story about a girl, who by using her beauty and lively wit, gets into an exclusive world of powerful and influential men. Sasha is an elusive and unpredictable girl who's playing with men's desires, fears, vanities, lust and obsessions. A big Hollywood movie star, a prime minister, a CEO of an international corporation and a wealthy studio executive; everyone of these men takes Sasha on a very different emotional journey. She lets herself become a toy in their hands, playing dangerous games and deluding herself about the nature of every relationship. Sex here is many different things: an act of manipulation, denial, surrender, and at the end, an act of search for true intimacy and closeness. Sasha tells her story with a raw, breathless, unapologetic honesty, using sensual images and powerful emotional truths.

"The Girl Who Played With Men" is one of the freshest most can't-put-down books I've read this year. Paulina Mielech evokes for me exactly what it was like to be 20 years old - both touchingly naïve and acutely self-aware. Her voice is unique, honest, provocative, at times funny and quite startingly wise. What I like about the character of Sasha is her sometimes shocking honesty. She goes from one relationship to another treating it like it's all "fun and games" until it isn't. There is something about this story very intimate and open and I appreciated it.Paulina writes in a simple, youthful yet very entertaining and addictive way about all the impulse choices you make when you are 20 years old and how in a profound way they shape your life and affect your soul forever. Her honest and aloof style keeps it away from melodrama which I found refreshing.
