Girls Rule! by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor

SUMMER IS AROUND the corner, and the rivalry between the Malloys and the Hatfords is heating up! The kids have two weeks to earn money for a fundraising contest sponsored by the local hospital. Those who collect $20 or more for the new children’s wing can choose to be in the annual Strawberry Festival Parade or get all the strawberry treats they can eat.

There’s only one place Caroline Malloy—wants to be: smack dab in the middle of the glamourous Strawberry Queen’s float. But how will she earn the money in such a short time? Do the Hatford brothers have moneymaking secrets that they’re not telling the girls?

The girls in it are so sassy. They keep saying how pretty and talented they our. I personally think they are a bunch of stuck up brats. If you want to be like that read the book. I give this book a two. I am being nice.

CC Leaders are Readers Book Club - We liked the book for the characters, but our boys thought it was lame that the girls came up with great idea of a car wash and the boys only thought of shoe shining, selling pictures etc. But then again the title was Girls Rule, so most of our group thought that was justified. Overall we thought it was more for a younger group than ours (6th grade). We thought there would be more drama, drastic actions and some suspense.
