Meet the Author

Nigel Denby trained as a dietitian at Glasgow Caledonian University, following an established career in the catering industry. He is also a qualified chef and previously owned his own restaurant. His dietetic career began as a Research dietitian at the Human Nutrition Research Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne. After a period working as a Community dietitian, Nigel left the NHS to join Boots Health and Beauty Experience where he led the delivery and training of Nutrition and Weight Management services. Nigel works extensively with the media, writing for the Sunday Telegraph Magazine, Essentials and various other consumer magazines. His work in radio and television includes BBC and ITN news programmes, Channel 4's 'Fit Farm', BBC Breakfast and BBC Real Story.

I bought another book before this one, found more ideas and things to cook, which added to my information. I had gotten free information on low carbs by atkins. I hope you stick with diet, it will improve health and I have lost weight without counting calories.

I have read the UK version of this book and it is great! Elegantly simple, easy to follow, mouthwateringly delicious. Well executed recipes with a strong vegetarian section and the clever split into 'fast & friendly' and 'foodie friendly' depending on your style and patience levels in the kitchen. A good compliment to the other books these guys written. Really interesting sections on oils, fats, sweeteners and grains - you get past a lot of myths and learn some interesting stuff without being lectured. Some light anecdotes on herbs and spices too with some interesting new ways to use them. Nice that there are few 'weird' ingredients, and even the slightly unusual ones generally have everyday alternatives (though I would recommend experimenting, it makes for some great new dishes). You can also find out more info on stockists on the website that is in my opinion a good support to any reader wanting to know more / dive deeper into the research that supports the plan. I am also a member of the online club, so a bit of a groupie! However I can safely say the books and club have changed the way I eat forever and I am 67lbs lighter than before I found Denby and the dietfreedom.co.uk team.
