A brilliant marine archaeologist...

A needy college student...

A ruthless tycoon...

In 1696 the sailing ship Mystique sank and took with it Jonathan Dickinson's gold, diamonds, and a treasury of riches. Now the wreck believed to be the Mystique remains shrouded in mystery until an ancient journal sheds light on its location, but a dispute over ownership blocks the excavation.

In a fight against time with the threat of Jamaica's colorful past overpowering the present, three powerful men lay claim to the sunken treasure. The struggle that ensues pits them against one another as 400 years of Jamaica's brutal history is revealed.

In a sweeping saga stretching back to 17th Century Africa and the British Isles, these three adventurers and their forebears-an ex-slave, a notorious pirate and a wealthy merchant-battle for ownership of the treasure and are drawn into the grit and greed of 17th Century Port Royal, Jamaica the wickedest city known to mankind. When their pursuit leads to chaos, kidnapping and murder, the question becomes, who will prevail?

Reviewed by Samantha Rivera for Readers' Favorite Glimpse of Sunlight by Leona DeRosa Bodie and G.E. Gardiner tells the story of Dono and Kyle who are researchers and treasure hunters in search of the fabled Jonathan Dickinson’s sunken treasure. But this is no ordinary treasure hunt, and for Kyle, Dono and many more of their new friends, this is going to be a trip that they will never forget. With adventure and intrigue at every turn, there’s more to this trip than they could have ever imagined. After all, searching for the biggest treasure ever known is an adventure in and of itself, and when you add in the mystery surrounding it, you’re in for an extraordinary adventure. Adventure saturates this book from the very first page and completely captivated me. The characters were interesting and I enjoyed watching each one as they changed and developed. I was not only entertained, but I got quite a history lesson as well. There’s a lot going on in this story which will keep you guessing until the final page. If you enjoy adventure, sunken treasure, and a little bit of history, then Glimpse of Sunlight is the right book for you.

I highly recommend this book to anyone ranging from the casual reader to the highly sophisticated book worm. The story will draw you in from the start and you will be captivated until the very end. The authors really brought the characters to life as I find myself constantly thinking about and visualizing what they will do next....I cannot wait until book 2 comes out!

I was immediately drawn into the story as it was being told by the character’s ancestors.  Then I was swept back into the life and times of Jonathan Dickenson during the 17th century. I’d known little of the Caribbean during that time, so I was in a constant state of discovery…the kind that amazes. This richly descriptive novel is testament to the writing talent of its authors, Leona Rosa DeBodie and G.E. Gardiner. While reading the chapters depicting the great earthquake, I actually felt queasy! The characters are so fully developed that it would be difficult NOT to care deeply for them. I have to admit, I’d have loved to be Blair back in those swashbuckling days.   I am anxiously awaiting the sequel. I bought this book and would highly recommend this very entertaining reade
