Dunning (international investment and business studies, U. of Reading) has selected papers he considers some of his more substantial and influential contributions to the study of international business, foreign direct investment, and global capitalism. He wrote them over a span of nearly 30 years, but most of them during the 1980s and 1990s. The second volume presents 15 essays on a variety of topics, among them the economic and social implications of global capitalism, the rising importance of regional economies in their desire to attract inward foreign direct investment, issues of competitiveness, and how national governments might best respond to the opportunities and challenges of globalization. Only names are indexed, separately for each volume. Annotation c. Book News, Inc.,Portland, OR
