The cover of the book is from a picture painted by my artist wife. It is inspirational, and I believe reflects the title of the book – God, Family, Freedom. One reader described my poetry as "Kind, heartfelt, and, at times, heartbreaking." Accompanying each poem is a picture that ties in with the poem's theme and adds to the story each poem relates.
Some will make the reader laugh or smile while others may bring a tear of joy to the reader's eye being so moved by the story. One example of this is the poem "The Old Veteran." Another story that will touch one's heart is a poem for animal lovers. It is the true story of two dogs, Panda and Lucy. I penned "You'll always be my little girl" for the wedding of my daughter Susan. Any parent who has watched as their daughter was getting married will undoubtedly relate to the feelings expressed in this poem. I describe how I felt when I got "My first car" in another poem. Do you remember your feelings back then? I spell love Y-O-U is a special love poem. "Christmas years ago," is a nostalgic look at Christmas.
I AM AMERICA is a patriotic look at the sacrifice many who have served in our armed forces from Bunker Hill through today. It is the opening poem in this book and one of which I am most proud.
Virtually every poem will have meaning to the reader as they describe many common experiences. In these troubled times God, Family, Freedom is a beacon of hope and joy.
