John Stoeffler is a veteran of the U.S. Army, staunch family man, and former columnist for a Midwestern newspaper. God, Country, and Family is his first collection of poetry, although some single works have appeared elsewhere, most recently in Whispers of the Waters, by The Dark Horse Writers. His writing is kind, heartfelt, and, at times, heartbreaking.

In a world that seems to get crazier every day, John Stoeffler has penned a collection of poems that read like an oasis of sanity. "God, Family, Freedom" celebrates the things that make life worthwhile. Some of these poems will bring a smile, others a tear, but all will warm the heart. Mr. Stoeffler touches on universal experiences that will resonate with almost anyone: trick-or-treating on Halloween, Super Bowl Sunday with friends, a day at the beach, the love of a daddy for his little girl, the comfort of a favorite chair, the thrill of that first car, the selfless sacrifice of our veterans. If you are looking for a book that is a breath of fresh air, "God, Family, Freedom" will not disappoint. Highly recommended!

Excellent reading. The poems and writing will touch your heart, make you smile, and encourage you with hope for the great country we live in. John touches on family with personal poems, stirring poems of the history of our country and lots of humor too. Well worth the read. Highly recommend.

This should be a required reading in slow motion to get the impact of what is being said. There is so much thought and emotion in that you won’t find anywhere else. God is alive in this man, family and everyone he touches. God bless you and whoever reads your book. Judy Grim

I absolutely love this book. This is a wonderful book to have around to flip through when you want to feel uplifted or inspired. All of the poems are relatable to your own family, friends, events and places. The author’s themes will transport you back to your own memories and feelings and touch your heart like you are actually there again. The author clearly has a strong sense of country, history and our American heritage. He paints a picture in the poems he wrote of the battles fought for our country and you can feel his gratitude for the service men and women who defend our freedoms. It is a quick read and would be a lovely addition to anyone’s home, cocktail table, office, or waiting room. Heartwarming, inspiring, funny, passionate, and touching. Bravo!

Beautifully written and very heartwarming. While John writes as poetry, each chapter reads as a story. You can feel joy, pride, and love in each. You can tell God, family and America are very important to John and his family. I know John and Linda personally and they are my heroes for all they have gone through.

This collection of poems and prose-poems touches a wide array of heartfelt subjects. The author's loving relation of 50 plus years with his wife, the care of his children and enthusiasm of his grandchildren are set forth with a wide array of well selected pictures. However, the book broarden it scope as the author explores his feelings for our flag, his fellow veterans, the country's heroes, their sacrifice for others, friendship, etc. The title promises views on God, but none of the several dozen chapters address God directly, and then the reader realizes that God's grace and care and love infuse all 55 chapters.

Neglected to properly rate this book in my last review. One star rating is not true. This is a real 5 Star Read. Like I said, I highly recommend it!!!

Kind, heartfelt, and, at times, heartbreaking. The work is a refreshing return to classical, emotive, poetry.
