My first impression when I received my copy of God's Little Princess Devotional Bible by Sheila Walsh wasn't what I expected. It was better! Starting from the impressive, sturdy hardcover. It is very appealing with several embedded 'gemstones'. The colors and print on this cover would stand out to both young and old. The suggested ages for this book are 4-7, but I have girls ages 6-12 that were completely engaged in it. In my opinion, girls of all ages would enjoy and benefit from this book. The beginning of the book has personalized pages to write the things most girls enjoy writing about like favorite colors, favorite animals, favorite songs, favorite foods, etc. When first hearing about this book, I was a little worried about the theme being a little too much 'princess'. But, to my surprise, it has great balance. Even if a girl is not the 'princess' type, I have confidence that it will be interesting to her. There is scripture throughout this book. It's not in complete King James Version, but in an easier to understand version from the International Children's Bible, which is helpful. After each scripture, passage, or story, there is reference as to where to find it in the Bible. Character traits are also scattered throughout, with scripture reference after each. My favorite sections of this book are the ones that give real life situations along with questions about how you would feel or what you would do. For answers to these, each scenario has scripture, reference, and easy to understand guidance. There are even simple, quick plays that can be acted out if desired. In God's Little Princess Devotional Bible, God is the center and virtues are taught in a way that a girl would want to learn them. Beauty, honor, charity, compassion, sharing, truth, fairness and more are much needed in this day, and I am glad for a little book like this that my girls learn, retain the lessons, and can pick up again and again!

My daughter and I had the opportunity to review God's Little Princess Devotional Bible by Sheila Walsh as members of the Thomas Nelson's Book Review Blogger program. This sturdy little children's book is just as sweet as can be! From the jewel encrusted tiara on the cover to the charming illustrations it's a book your daughter will WANT to read! Although the book is geared toward 4-7 year-old girls, my 8 year old daughter thoroughly enjoyed it. The layout held my daughter's interest because the different sections are mixed together instead of rigidly laid out into certain chapters. This devotional is packed full of activities, mini skits, stories, prayers, songs, verses, and so much more. I really enjoyed all of the references to manners and politeness as well as how much the book stresses that God is always there to listen to you. I was raised knowing that I could pray to God at anytime, anywhere and about anything. This book enforces that belief and I am so happy that it does! I think that the author has done a wonderful job translating the Bible stories and verses into meaningful and though provoking activities and themes. There are many stories about women of the Bible which is a nice change of pace from many other books that focus on only the men. This is certainly a book that your girl can enjoy both with you and on her own. It would also make an adorable gift or shower present! I look forward to enjoying this book with my daughter for quite some time!

Just what a girl needs -- God's Little Princess Devotional Bible! Shelia Walsh has out done herself one more time. She is the author of the adorable Gigi Series that many of you may be familiar with. This book is handsomely illustrated and designed with a lovely jeweled crown on the front cover and charmingly illustrated by, Meredith Johnson. Girls ages 4 to 7 will love it! This book is packed with nine awesome features: Beauty Secrets, Bible Princesses, Down in My Heart, I Adore You, My Hero, Princess Charming, Royal Truths, Take A Bow and Worthy of Love. Your little princess will have fun adding their favorites: colors, animals, foods, toys, things-to-do, games, songs and Bible verses. As a mother of five daughters, I was thrilled to learn of this new devotional Bible. It is perfect for helping you bond with your little princess. Allowing them to spend quality time alone or with other family members, it's packed with wonderful virtues that allow our daughters to grow in God's Word. This book is bound to make your princess feel special and loved, especially when she can share it with the her mother, grandmother, aunt and others.

"God's Little Princess" by Sheila Walsh is a devotional Bible for girls. The structure of the book is fun. There are Bible verses, beauty tips (for both the inside and outside), words of advice, songs, plays that have roles for the reader and mother, and much more. Girls are encouraged to show kindness and love to others. There are even quizzes on behavior with follow-ups to make sure the reader knows which choices are right. The book encourages children to act like little princesses, politeness and all. Hardcover with rhinestones and glitter, this book is sure to attract young eyes. Also, the pages themselves are brightly colored with unique designs. Pictures galore fill the book to keep a young girl's attention. The print is large for little ones, as well. All throughout the book, the message of God's redeeming love is evident. Walsh verifies that readers will be princesses in God's royal court of heaven. She also suggests girls pray and come to God when they are sad or have done something wrong. http://brb.thomasnelson.com/blogger/

This devotional is absolutely adorable. It goes through devotionals designed around some of the most popular bible stories. At the end of the devotional is a kids Q&A and fun things. One of the ones we did had a short "play". If was fun and the girls loved it. It inspires discussion of the topics, and can be a great learning tool to help show your children God's love for them. My kids Love this devotional. I even caught my stepson "eavesdropping". He was too cool to come and sit with us though, since it was a GIRLS devotional.

This was a gift to my 5 year old Daughter. She loved it, she loved that is was written for a little girl just like her. The format and artwork just brought her alive. I would recommend this bible for any little girl to learn how to live her life for God.

I purchased this wonderful book for my Granddaughter who is 6 years old, this past Christmas. I am 85 years old and I wanted to give her something that would teach her about things that I believe are very important. It is a great way to introduce her to "The Good Book". It appeals to young children because it is fun. It is full of wonderful stories that young children can understand, great moral lessons and activities. Just the title alone, piqued my Granddaughter interest. She can read it with some help and enjoys doing so. So I am very pleased with my purchase.

I bought two of these as gifts for 8 year old girls and they both love them! This book made it easy for the girls to read the Bible stories on their own. At the end of each story, there is a different activity for them to do, one of their favorites being the comprehensive questions that they asked their mom after reading the story to her. This book is great for young girls and the brightly-colored pages and illustrations are an added bonus!

When I received my review copy of God's Little Princess Devotional Bible by Sheila Walsh, I fell completely in love with the beautiful cover. The princess crown with the pink jewel is a real attention grabber. Once my 11 year old daughter saw it, she was instantly enamored with it. If you have a little girl ages 5-11 that loves pink, ponies and princesses, she will love this book. Not only is it an easy to read book, but the different sections in the book make it easy to read in bits and pieces, which makes for a great devotional for a young girls; short attention span. It is broken down into small features that have much variety for children. Features include: Scripture memory Girls/Women of the Bible Dress Up/Role playing ideas Kids song & worship Ideas to teach manners My favorite feature of this book is that there are stories for you and your daughter to read and then an activity to reinforce what they learned in the story. For young children, this is an ideal way to learn. While my 11 year old loved it, my younger, more independent rough and tumble girl didn't find much use for it. So I highly recommend this book to any little girl who is the frilly dress up, girly type.

Today I'm reviewing "God's Little Princess Devotional Bible" by Sheila Walsh. Before you laugh at the title and subject of such a book for a grown man to review, let me assure you that I requested this book with a perfect subject in mind: my 4-year-old daughter, who fancies herself a princess of sorts. This adorable book immediately appealed to Gabbie on first glance from its bejeweled cover to the plethora of pink, purple and other pastels found on nearly every page. The content of the book is equally bedazzling! Each short devotional is founded in God's Word and strives to teach girls of their image in Christ. In each section you will find: a modern day situation/scenario filled with provoking thoughts and questions; accompanying Scripture to challenge and inspire your child to put their faith into action; a short prayer of reflection. Gabbie & I continue to enjoy this book together and I pray that it will be a springboard in the future for deeper spiritual conversation with my daughter as she discovers the precious child she is in Christ. I would highly recommend this book for any young girl.

One of the most difficult things for parents who are trying to raise their children to serve God can be finding a Biblical text that young ones can understand. Having children aged six and three, this has been a challenge -- until recently. God's Little Princess Devotional Bible: Bible Storybook, though not the Bible word for word, verse for verse, is Biblical in context. With every couple of pages focusing on one key lesson from the Bible and highlighting key "Heroes" and "Bible Princesses," God's Little Princess Devotional Bible: Bible Storybook has proven to be exactly what we needed for our three-year-old daughter who is obsessed with Princesses. God's Little Princess Devotional Bible: Bible Storybook includes such things as memory verses, tips on how to be truly beautiful (on the inside, not just the surface), and the all-important (for little girls) focus on girls and women of the Bible who made a difference. There are activities for a parent to do with the child, including singing and role plays, and special sections that focus on how God wants us to love one another (the most important commandment of all). Each book of the Bible is broken down into two to four pages of insight and activity, making it the perfect bedtime devotional for every little Princess. It has truly been an answer to prayer, as our little Princess looks forward to her devotional every night so much that if she misses it she is disappointed. And best of all: it gives Daddy a little special time with his little girl! There will be that time when every child needs his or her first "real" Bible, but there's no need to wait until then to start teaching them the Bible. With God's Little Princess Devotional Bible: Bible Storybook, you can get a head start on setting your little Princess on the right path right now. God's Little Princess Devotional Bible is a children's bible written, as you can guess, for the little princesses in your family. The characteristics focused on in this Bible storybook will help your little girl blossom into the princess she was created to be. Virtues such as compassion, sharing, and truth are highlighted in fun and engaging ways. Bible text selections are from the International Children's Bible and are right on and relevant. From choosing between cleaning your room and playing outside to deciding what to do when you get antsy in church, every young girl will find something in here she can relate to. My daughter is 9. She is outgrowing princess tiaras and moving into the Nintendo DSi. She says the Bible is "maybe just a little too young for me but I will still read the stories." Starting at the beginning, she enjoyed Genesis and simply was amazed when she read in "Make It Yours" that, in the beginning of time, some people lived close to 1000 years! Offering a message delivered through stories, songs, activities, and questions this children's bible is one your child will come back to time and time again. This is a Bible I will keep in mind for gifts for other young girls in my life. This 337-page devotional is written with 4-7 year old girls in mind and although there are some big words from the Bible in it, it is written in a way that this age group can still learn a lot AND stretch their vocabulary. The devotional is filled with Bible stories, role-play activities, ideas to help with memorizing scriptures, and stories about girls and women in the Bible who made a difference. There are also articles that help teach manners, poise and charm, examples of ways to show love to those around you, and stories that teach basic values straight from the Bible. While I love for my daughter to play with blocks, dig in the dirt and run in the pirate gang with the boys, she also loves the color pink and getting in touch with her inner princess and this devotional is right up her alley. There are cute, cartoon-like pictures throughout the book but they seem to be missing from the Bible story pages. If I were to change one thing about the book, I would add similar pictures to the Bible story pages to aid non-readers in recalling story details and finding a particular story they might be interested in. Overall, Sheila Walsh has once again done a great job on this devotional and I would certainly recommend it to my friends and family!

Wonderful bible for little girls. Not only does it teach bible stories but it relates to issues that all little girls face from manners and grace to helping your parents and cleaning your room.

This is what the publisher had to say about the Bible : Girls long to be loved and adored, and give their heart to their hero. God is that hero! The characteristics focused on in this Bible storybook will help your little girl blossom into the princess she was created to be. Virtues to create beauty such as compassion, sharing, and truth are highlighted in fun and engaging ways. The perfect format for girls to learn about their destiny as a daughter of their King. Here is what I think : This is a beautiful Bible for little girls. I love what it looks like, it's white hardback with a rhinestone princess crown set in the cover and pink glitter letters. The Bible text is taken from the International Children's Bible. It's well written for little girls to read themselves or to be read to. It's great for bedtime Bible time because the stories are each about 4 pages long. Along with the stories, there are plays, songs, and ideas to apply to the stories for better understanding. There are pictures from Sheila Walsh's God's Little Princess series of books and movies, to show how every little girl is God's little princess. An excellent book that would make an ideal gift for the Princess in your life. It introduces key Biblical stories and concepts to build a young girl's self esteem and independence whilst caring for others and the world. Suggested age range is 4-7 but I think it could be used with older girls too. The beautiful cover with its inset sparkly jewels indicates quality and the content and illustrations do not disappoint. There are plenty of mini drama scenes, quizzes and stories to keep the Princess busy and challenged for a long time. It is a good introduction to the Bible but what I especially liked is that it is practical rather than preachy; the Princess would be turned onto the Biblical message using this book. Items like the Role Review where difficult theological concepts are explained in a simple sentence could enlighten adults as well! I would recommend it for churches and Sunday schools as well as its intended home use. It is also suitable for UK/European Princesses. The only minor criticism that I have is that the text is very complex at times so that the Princess would need one of her entourage to read it with her. The wonderful thing about God's Little Princess Devotional Bible is that it is interactive! I can't stress that enough. This book is far more than Bible stories. It contains questions and activities that engage young girls in a way that I haven't seen with other Bibles for young children. My daughters best friend had this Bible and for the past couple of years they've been talking about it. Author Sheila Walsh is a fantastic writer and really understands kids. I've read her other books and didn't realize that this was by the same author until it arrived and my daughter ran to her room to get the other Sheila Walsh books (which are some of her favorites!). This is a must-have book for girls ages 5-7, but younger and older will appreciate it as well. Take a peek inside the book with the preview found at books dot google dot com by entering the book title there, and see for yourself if this would be a delightful book for your daughter, granddaughter, or niece.

I jumped when the opportunity to read and review God's Little Princess Devotional Bible by: Sheila Walsh arose. I myself, have my own little princess at home and am always looking for various books and resources that encourage and highlight character traits in growing a child in the way they should go. The format of this book is great. Each devotional begins with a Bible passage from the International Children's Bible. Which is then followed by a couple of pages that further illustrate the story that was read. Some stories have where a play can be acted out, a scenario that includes a multiple choice question to answer, a memory portion, song or further discussion and application of the given passage. You'll find nine wonderful features in this devotional: Beauty Secrets, Bible Princesses, Down in My Heart, I Adore You, My Hero, Princess Charming, Royal Truths, Take A Bow and Worthy of Love. Your little princess can personally this Bible by adding her favorites: colors, animals, foods, toys, things-to-do, games, songs and Bible verses. This beautifully illustrated devotional, is geared toward girls ages 4-7. This book is a simple yet it's a spiritually challenging read, though age appropriate. I look forward to reading this book to my own daughter, as I know it will be a good read for mom and daughter time each day. Though it's a great devotional for your princess to read on her own and then later discuss it with the woman in their own lives.

I was thankful to have had the chance to review God's Little Princess Devotional Bible from Thomas Nelson Publishers. I wasn't sure what to expect, but at the same time was very excited to get it in the mail and check it out. My first thought was how durable it was and how beautiful the front cover was with all of the jewels. What little girl wouldn't be drawn to this book?! I know I was...and I'm an adult! Although the appearance was perfect...I know that the contents inside are what is most important, so I quickly opened it up and began reading. Not far into it I realized how great this book would be for little girls, and was something I wish I had as a young girl. Although the pages were quite colorful, there were no pictures and I felt the contents were definitely geared towards preschool age and older as the publishers suggest. I really enjoyed the Bible Stories though, and the reflective activities available to do with your daughter after you're done reading. It was neat how God's Word was entwined with little tips on how to handle day to day life in a way that's meaningful to young children. Overall I really thought this was a very good Devotional Bible and appreciated the message it gives young girls about knowing who you are in the Lord and not letting anyone take that from you, and being able to teach young ones that what's important is what's on the inside. Here is the book description right off the back cover. I thought it was well worded and really captures what this book is about and what it covers: "Little girls long to be loved, adored, and needed, and to give their hearts to a hero! God is that hero. This devotional Bible for young girls uses Scripture selections from the International Children's Bible alongside articles that help girls blossom into the princesses they were always meant to be. Virtues to create true beauty, such as honor, charity, compassion, sharing, truth, fairness and more are highlighted throughout the book in fun and engaging ways. This Bible will help little girls learn about their destiny as a daughter of God and a true princess."

What a charming little book! The cover alone, with its faux diamond crown, will grab the attention and the heart of gals of every age. The Bible stories are among the most loved and the lessons are excellent. I really like the role playing and review questions. However the book seems geared to the incorrect age group. I believe 7-10 is more realistic. While a 4-year-old might enjoy hearing the stories, the role playing parts are out of reach of a non-reader.The book limits sales by only interacting with 'mom" and occasionally dad. Many a child has neither. It would be great if it said something like 'mom or another adult.' Over all, though it is a great book and a wonderful idea. Perhaps Ms. Walsh might consider writing a full-fledged Bible version for for teenage girls and even one for adult ones! I would buy it! Who doesn't want to be a princess??

It was a very pleasant surprise-it was different than what I expected. God's Little Princess Devotional Bible is a collection of Bible stories with short reflections, activities, scriptures, and lessons for parents to read to their little girls. It is most appropriate for ages 5-7, but could be read to a 4 year old if they have good reading comprehension and can understand a story without pictures. Most of the stories from the Bible in this collection, focus on a woman in the Bible. This book is a little different than every other collection of Bible stories that I have for my daughters. First, almost all of the stories each focus on a woman or at least include a girl or woman in the story-so, many people that are included in other children's Bibles are not in this book-like David and Joseph. But, that isn't necessarily a bad thing. The author has chosen specific stories to illustrate specific lessons-devotions-that she wants to share with little girls. My daughter just finished kindergarten and the devotions in this Bible hit the mark! They are what I've been looking for. I just read God's promises for Girls to them, but it focused so much on God's love and not on the reality that little girls do make bad choices sometimes, but they need to try to love God, love their families, and love others. The one thing I would wish for this book is different illustrations. There aren't any pictures to go along with the Bible stories. That would make it difficult for little girls who need pictures to help them understand what is being read. In addition, the pictures of Gigi seem to be of a very little girl (under 5), which is much younger than the girls who are most likely to read this book with their parents. Overall, I would recommend this devotional Bible to any mom of a little girl who loves to dress up and who is looking for a Bible that combines lessons about manners, Bible stories, character lessons, and scripture. These are all the things I want to talk with my little girls about this summer!
