Overview

The Gods of Amyrantha (Tide Lords Series #2) by Jennifer Fallon

How do you go about killing yourself when you are an immortal? Is it even possible? Jennifer Fallon explores this tantalizing puzzle in The Gods of Amyrantha, the second in her Tide Lords series.

The Tide is turning and the Tide Lords' powers are returning with it. Cayal, the Immortal Prince, hero of legend, was thought to be only a fictional character.

Cayal sure wishes that he was a piece of fiction—anything that would help him shuffle off this mortal coil. But even though he longs for a final death, things in the world keep pulling him back. Such as Arkady Desean, an expert on the legends of the Tide Lords who has discovered the truth about Cayal…and captured his heart.

Yes, the Tide Lords will walk upon the earth once more and, with the power that surges through the cosmos, stand poised to wreak havoc on all that humans hold dear. Cayal will have to decide if he wants to go on living just a little longer and if he is willing to risk his fellow immortals' wrath in order to save the world.

This is the second book in the Tide Lords series, and it has jacked up the danger, adventure and mystery 3x. By the end of the book, every character finds himself either in a situation where they might never get out and puts them in extreme danger, or gets some information that changes their entire perception of themselves and their place in their world. A lot of questions from the last book are answered, but a ton more are revealed in the last couple chapters...some that were hinted at and the reader might have suspected, and some that caught you by surprise, but makes sense. All that I love about good fantasy is in this series: great world building that makes sense, great characters that are not cardboard, but have all kind of sides...that even when doing terrible things, the reader understands....and of course the magic and escape. Tis series so far is shaping up to be one of my favorites. On to the next book!

This book held my attention as the first in the series, if you loved the Immortal Prince, you will love this just as much! Again Fallon explained the in depth characters excellently.

alot of smart people out there, me i like to cut loose and relax. This series did that for me in a new refreshing scifi fantisy look, especialy when your own world is envovled with no ability to control. that would be ethan and arkady.

There are possibly three new chapters in this, the second in the Tide Lords series. I was so disappointed, as I was anxious to find out what happened to Arkady after she got sold into slavery. Instead, the book just repeats what led up to her slavery.

The Ice Duchess of Lebec, wife of the Kingdom of Glaeba's heir Duke Stellan and renowned ancient Amyranthan scholar Arkady Desean determines that the immortal Tide Lords must die as they will never stop their efforts to take control of the world. As she ponders how does a mortal kill an immortal, the kingdom's spymaster Declan Hawkes tests one scheme after another to destroy the Tide Lords.------------- As Declan's efforts fail, he hides his admiration and desire for Arkady. Meanwhile Tide Lord Cayal courts Arkady while still considering suicide as he has contemplated since the kingdom tried hanging him (see THE IMMORTAL PRINCE). Increasingly the Tide Lord created human-beasts Crasii are secretly defying their masters while the Tide Lords are preparing to walk the earth as its rulers once again..-------------- The second Tide Lords fantasy thriller is overall an exhilarating entry though the overarching theme does not move forward that much. The story line is loaded with subplots in which the best ones involve the big schemes of the Time Lords and their opponents. Some fluff like events in the harem feel underneath the prime level so it only serve as a detractor. Still THE GODS OF AMYRANTHA is a fine entry as the confrontation is coming.----------- Harriet Klausner
