“God has something to say to you! Each new day brings a lesson from His lips. Are you listening?” Elisa Morgan writes in her devotion on listening in the book, God’s Words of Life For Mothers. ~ What ~ Previously published under a somewhat similar title, this two-hundred-twenty-four-page soft-cover book with scalloped-cut pages targets mothers as they relate to God in their daily lives. Using mainly the New International Version of the Holy Bible, the verses cover forty-one topics about mothers. A light pink ribbon marker is attached. After a table of contents, this book contains forty-two topics related to motherhood, each one ranging between three to eight pages, ending with 6 blank lined pages for notes. Beginning with a title, several written-out Bible verses are given about the topic, finishing with a one- to two-page devotional. Some of the subjects are Anger, Commitment, Contentment, Fear, Gossip, Healthy Living, Loneliness, Prayer, Self-Image, Stress, Wisdom, and Worship. ~Why ~ I appreciate devotionals that have written out Bible verses, and this one focuses on God’s Word more than the added devotions. I like how one topic is covered first by having the verses and then applying them to a mother’s everyday life. A favorite was the 4-page one on Patience with 18 verses written out from Psalms, Ecclesiastes, Lamentations, Isaiah, Romans, I Corinthians, Ephesians, Colossians, I Thessalonians, and James. The devotion reminds us to wait and pray for God’s work to accomplished. ~ Why Not ~ Those mothers who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ may not want to get a book that aims to get closer to the Almighty. Others may wish there were more than the forty-two devotions included. I found the devotions are not in depth. ~ Wish ~ With the many Bible verses given, I wish they were in the King James Version as that is my favorite. While there were a couple of prayers written out in the devotions, it would be ideal if more were included. ~ Want ~ If you like devotionals with short Bible verses and devotions that are quick to read, this is a viable choice. It would make a lovely gift for Mother’s Day or as a birthday present. Thanks to Book Look Bloggers for this complimentary book that I am under no obligation to review.
