5 star review Going Down Fast (Billionaire Bad Boys #2) by Carly Phillips Carly Phillips is a new author to me and be assured I will be checking out her other books. What’s a woman to do when her world comes crashing down around her? That’s the situation Maxie Sullivan faces when tragedy strikes, who can she turn too? Instinctively she knows it can only be one man, the man she has always secretly been in love with, Lucas Monroe. Lucas has always been in love with Maxi, but due to interference, she is the one woman he cannot have, the one woman who is off limits. When circumstances change and Maxie’s life is thrown into turmoil, she has no choice but to ask Lucas for help. Will Maxie and Lucas be able to overcome their past, can they trust enough in their love to make a life together, r will th past come back to haunt and destroy them? Lucas will do whatever it takes to keep Maxie safe and I will admit I ally fell for him. I have to say I listened to this book on audible and thoroughly loved it. The story was well written and certainly an emotional roller-coaster, which touched on several issues that have affected me personally. I admire the way Ms. Phillips is not afraid to include the realities of life. In Going Down Fast she tackles the issue of bullying both in school and college and the repercussions that can and sadly often does occur with great compassion. Cannot wait for book number three in the series. I have no idea why it has taken me so long to Carly Phillips, but I am now going to bump her other books up my extremely long list of TBR’s.

Hot, sexy, sweet, emotional, friends from childhood second chance romance with a hint of danger. Including a competitive sibling that is beyond redemption. Lucas Monroe is charming, wicked smart and off the charts hot. The kind of man who can have any woman he wants except the only one he has ever loved. Maxie is sweet and giving but trapped in a horrible marriage to his brother. The emotional twists and truns in this journey are captivating and keep you reading hopeful for a happy ending. Love this series!

Going Down Fast by Carly Phillips.....I loved this story, there was drama, Love, hot scenes and great characters that had me flipping pages. Lucus is so sweet and in love with his childhood friend that married his terrible brother. I enjoyed seeing this story unfold for Maxie and Lucus. This is one book you will want to read, as always with Carly Phillips books. I voluntarily reviewed an advance readers copy of this book from publisher.

4 1/2 STARS! Another sexy billionaire takes us for a ride in the latest Billionaire Bad Boys release by Carly Phillips! I loved Lucas, and other than wanting to kick Maxie a few times when I felt like she wasn’t appreciating him enough, I enjoyed her too. Lots of steamy romance, and a bit of intrigue as we try to figure out what’s going to happen with the trouble that is following her around! Though they were childhood best friends and each secretly wanted more with the other, Lucas Monroe and Maxie Sullivan went separate routes through life. When hard times left her needing him, he was always there for her, willing to pick up the pieces. This time is more complicated than ever, and requires lots of close quarters. Will they finally decide to put down the armor and take a chance on each other?

I know I'm in for a treat when this author writes a new book and I am NEVER disappointed. This story is about Lucas Monroe and Maxie Sullivan. It's a fabulous friends to lovers story with major complications in between. By "major complications" I mean Lucas' brother Keith. Lucas is the childhood nerd who became the sexy Alpha man to the extreme. Maxi is one lucky woman to have a friend and more in Lucas. The steam factor is off the charts FLAMING HOT!!! I can't wait for the next book in the Billionaire Bad Boys series. Received a copy via RockStarLit in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed is my own.

Going Down Fast was a quick and easy read for me. I was pulled in to Maxie and Lucas’ story from the very beginning. Lucas is the guy that has it all. He’s made it big in the tech world and has the world at his feet. He could have anyone or anything he wanted…that is except for one thing…The one thing he wants is the girl he let slip away. She is his biggest regret. Lucas would do anything to have Maxie in his life and as fate would have it, he’s about to get that chance…. Maxie has always wanted to be with Lucas, but fate had other plans. She ended up in the arms of another. She should be happy. But, once again, life had other plans. Maxie’s life has been turned completely upside down, so she turns to the one person that she could always count on…Lucas. Fate appears to be giving these two their second chance, but only time will tell if these two will get the HEA they so desperately want. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was well written and the story-line was engaging. Maxie’s story pulled at my heart and I couldn’t help but connect with her. My heart ached for her and all that she went through. I wanted her to find some happiness in her life. Lucas was a great guy. You could tell that he really cared for Maxie and would do anything for her. I loved the chemistry that the two of them had. It was so palpable and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen when these two finally gave into their feelings. Going Down Fast was a quick and easy read. It had all the elements that I was looking for in a second chance romance. And I look forward to seeing where this series will go next.

I was fist introduced to Carly Phillips and her books through a blog tour back when she was still publishing the Dare to Love series. I was an instant fan and from then on, I try very hard to sign up for any PR when she has a new book coming out. I absolutely LOVED Going Down Easy and couldn't wait to get a hold of Lucas and Maxie's story in Going Down Fast. The turbulent emotions that the characters go through is riveting.  Lucas and Maxie have been in love with each other since they were kids but neither acted on it. Due to Lucas's awful brother, their lives took a turn for the worse. He was a horrible man who was manipulative, verbally abusive, and jealous of Lucas. He delighted in tormenting him and taking whatever Lucas had or wanted (including Maxie). Maxie thought Lucas was a lost cause due to those manipulations. When his brother is killed in a car accident, Lucas gets a second chance with Maxie but it seems his brother is still manipulating them, even in death. The hunger, longing, love, and desire is unmistakable between Lucas and Maxie. They don't travel an easy road but it was wonderful following along in their story to see how it all plays out for them. Despite having to squeeze my reading of this book in between other obligations, I devoured it and probably could have read it in an afternoon if I'd had the time. It was that addicting. The story flowed well and like usual with Carly Phillips books, I felt drawn to these characters. I sat thinking about them after the book was over and I'm a firm believer that those kinds of books are the ones that stick with you long after you've moved on to other books. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I can't wait for book 3 (Going Down Hard). 5 out of 5 stars!!!!

Lucas Monroe was a geeky high school kid in love with his best friend Maxie Sullivan. He grew up being bullied by his older brother Keith. Keith was always jealous of his younger brother and went after whatever Lucas wanted. That included Maxie. Maxie ended up married to the wrong brother. Lucas was the one she always wanted, but Keith figured out how to get her in his bed and his life. Flash forward to today. Maxie is left struggling to put her life back together after her husband dies six months earlier and leaves her penniless. She's forced to rely on Lucas for a place to stay while she looks for a job and finds a way to get back on her feet. The hits just keep coming from the lies Keith spent years piling up. I love that the boys who run Blink are tied to the Dares from another series by Carly Phillips. It's great seeing well loved characters pop up in a new series like that. I loved reading this book and seeing how Lucas and Maxie would find a way to put their past behind them and move forward to their happily ever after. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

This second book in the Billionaire Bad Boys series is a hot and sexy friends to lovers romance. Lucas Monroe is a totally different man than the insecure, nerdy boy he was in high school. He is a confident, sexy, tattooed, successful business man who still pines for the one he has loved since childhood. He and Maxie were inseparable as they grew up together, but he didn't have the nerve to ask her for more than friendship. After moving away for college, they grew apart and he lost his chance when she married another. Maxie always loved Lucas as well, but believed he had moved on without her. So when a man she trusted told her what she wanted to hear, she married him. Now years later, the deception she fell for is causing her more pain than she could every imagine. With Lucas back in her life, he is the one constant she is always able to count on. Lucas is making it clear he wants more, but Maxie never wants to be dependent on a man again. She is strong, hard working and determined to make it on her own before she gives in to her feelings for Lucas. Lucas is so sweet and thoughtful trying to help Maxie without controlling her as she grows stronger and more confident. They are figuring out how to navigate their feelings and fiery chemistry while enduring the obstacles threatening to tear them apart. I really liked both Maxie and Lucas and loved them together. There are a few twists and turns that add some suspenseful moments to this sweet and very hot and sexy romance. I am really enjoying this series and am excited for Derek's story next.

Sigh... This book just hit every spot right for me. Maxie and Lucas' story is just a heartbreaking ball of goodness, rawness, and deliciousness. These Billionaire Bad Boys fall, and fall hard. Lucas is that guy who just makes you swoon. He's strong, he's got a good heart, and the length to which he will protect, support and love Maxie is untouchable. these two find their strength within one another during their story. For Maxie, she needs to be her own person, and rarely is an extremely sex alpha man written that allows the heroin to do that without learning the hard way. Lucas on the other hand supported her, loved her, and truly gave every part of himself to her, and her to him. Going Down Fast has that thing about it. Just the right amount of depth, then breathtaking amount of pleasure and passion, and a dose of reality that allowed me to lose myself whole-heartedly in their world. I couldn't get enough of this story, and these characters. I am waiting not so patiently for Going Down Hard and Going Down Deep. This series is fast becoming a favorite of mine, and I can't wait for more from these devilishly sexy men and the women who fight for their hearts! Happy Reading! *ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review*

Going Down Fast is the second book in Carly Phillips newest series, the Billionaire Bad Boys. Lucas was a nerd growing up. He was bored in school and bullied by other kids, especially his older brother Keith. He ended up dropping out of college only to become a multi-billion in the tech world. Keith was the popular kid, into playing sports, and besting everyone else, including his Lucas. Keith even manipulated the girl Lucas cared for by lying to her, telling her Lucas was engaged, and getting her to marry him. Maxie Sullivan cannot believe all the lies her husband, Keith, told before he died. He was unfaithful, gambled, embezzled money from his law firm, stopped paying the life insurance policy, and took out a second mortgage without telling her any of this. It is only after his death that sure learns of all of this. Icing on the cake is losing her job at his law firm because of his sins. Lucas has been her best friend since they were kids. Maxie always thought Lucas was her future and regrets marrying the wrong brother. Lucas offered Maxie a place to live until she is able to support herself. He has never stopped loving Maxie and struggled with the way his brother treated her. Now these two have a chance to rewrite their future. This book is definitely hot and sexy with loveable characters that you want to support and cheer on hoping for that happy ending. The characters were well written, authentic and complex. The story line was riveting and kept my attention to the very end. I genuinely enjoyed reading this book and had trouble putting this book down. I highly recommend this book to other readers.

GOING DOWN FAST is the second installment in Carly Phillips’s contemporary, adult BILLIONAIRE BAD BOYS erotic, romance series-a spin off from her DARE TO LOVE SERIES. This is billionaire businessman Lucas Monroe, and paralegal Maxie Sullivan’s story line. GOING DOWN FAST can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Told from dual third person perspectives (Maxie and Lucas) GOING DOWN FAST follows the friends to lovers/forbidden relationship between billionaire Lucas Monroe, and Maxie Sullivan. For most of their life Lucas Monroe and Maxie Sullivan have been in love with another. They grew up together as next door neighbors but when Lucas moved away to attend college, then establishing himself as one of the giants in the world of IT, he came home to find his best friend- the woman he loved- married and moving on with her life. Years later, Maxie finds herself a widow, near bankrupt, and in desperate need of some help. Enter Lucas Monroe, the man who would be Maxie’s savior when the past comes looking for revenge. The relationship between Maxie and Lucas is one of friends to lovers; something of a ‘forbidden romance’ between two people who have loved one another for years but life, jealousy and heartbreaking betrayal destroyed any chance for the couple’s happily ever after. As Maxie’s life spirals out of control Lucas sees an opportunity to get a second chance with the woman he loves. The $ex scenes are erotic, intense and seductive. Lucas’s business partners and friends Derek West and Kaden Barnes play secondary and supporting roles, as well as the love of Kaden’s life Lexie Parker (Going Down Easy #1). Former friend and business partner Julian Dane returns hoping to hear some positive news about Lexie’s sister Kendall Parker- a woman he destryed to get back at Lucas, Derek and Kaden. Lucas’s parents have a difficult time accepting his relationship with Maxie Sullivan; and the requisite evil comes in many forms insisting that Maxie has something he wants. The world building continues to follow the friendship and business relationship between friends Lucas, Derek and Kaden, and the lengths each will go to protect one another and their future together. There is a slight cross over with Phillips’ DARE TO LOVE SERIES when Lucas calls Ian Dare- a college friend and investor in Lucas’s company-in the hopes of hiring Tyler Dare’s security and investigation. GOING DOWN FAST is a sexy, romantic suspense story line; a journey of rediscovery for two people torn about by another’s jealousy and betrayal. The premise is intriguing, dramatic and inspiring; the characters are colorful, passionate and energetic; the romance is hot and intense. Carly Phillips’s GOING DOWN FAST is a provocative look at a second chance romance for two people who deserve a happily ever after.

All of Lucas Monroe's life he has wanted Maxie Sullivan. When Maxie marries his older brother, Keith, Lucas knows it's hands off. Maxie has always loved Lucas but after some news she has heard about him, she realizes her chances with him are gone. Keith pushes Maxie hard to go out with him, and she finally caves in. Now, Maxie is unhappily married to Keith, very pregnant and living in the same building as Lucas. When Maxie starts to bleed heavily, she can't get a hold of Keith and the first person she goes to is Lucas. Lucas rushes Maxie to the hospital where she does lose the baby. When Keith finally does show up, obviously after being with another woman, he's pissed that Lucas is there. Fast forward nine months later....Keith has been killed in a car accident and Maxie is suddenly on her own. When many things about Keith come to light, Maxie finds herself without a place to live. Lucas gladly offers for her to stay with him. There is obvious chemistry between these two....and it has always been there. I really loved Lucas. He is just a super nice guy. Maxie has been living a life dictated by Keith and she just wants to live her own life now. Love how strong and independent she is trying to be. As Lucas and Maxie spend more time together, MANY revelations are made and these two finally get together. Of course this makes Lucas' parents very unhappy. Keith was the golden child and his parents favorite. When Keith's past comes back to haunt Maxie, Lucas will do everything in his power to help her. This suspenseful part of the story was interesting. It was fun how they were trying to find everything out. I really enjoyed the dramatic ending! It was a great twist. And of course Maxie and Lucas' happy ending was perfect!

Our favorite Billionaire Bad Boys are back in Carly Phillips newest installment Going Down Fast. In this book we meet Maxie, a long time friend, sister-in-law and unfortunately the one who got away for Lucas. Lucas is drool worthy; he is kind, compassionate, sensitive and sexy. He is also very protective of the ones he loves and that quality comes out strongly when Maxie is involved. Lucas has known Maxie since they were children and has been in love with her just as long. He was the geeky computer and video nerd who was constantly bullied so he never expressed his feeling to her. Years later he lost his chance to ever find out if they could be more when he older brother married the love of his life. Maxie has always dreamed of a chance with Lucas. She has been head over heels in love with him since they were teenagers but they drifted apart when they both left for college. Years later she was still carrying a torch for him but when his brother told her that he was engaged to another woman she decided to move on. When Keith (Lucas’s brother) starts asking Maxie out she decides it’s time to move on. Even though the two men are completely different in personality Keith is still sweet and loving then it suddenly changes. After several tragedies, including the death of her husband, Maxie seeks help and refuge from the only person who has really ever been there for her, Lucas. Maxie knows Lucas and his brother never had a great relationship but can she hurt the man she loves further by exposing the lies and deceptions that has kept them apart for so many years. Now is the change for them to finally have the opportunity for the life they both have always wanted if they are just willing to give it a chance. Ms. Phillips out did herself with this book. I loved these two characters. They had great chemistry from the beginning and I could really feel the heartache that both characters went through along with the love the have for each other. Great story and a fabulous addition to this hot and sexy series. I received an eARC of this book compliments of the publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinion. All ratings and opinions stated are my own.

Lucas has always been more than Maxie's best friend...she's loved him almost all her life. But when he went away his older brother moved in on Maxie and convinced her that Lucas was marrying someone else. But when Lucas' brother dies in a car accident, Maxie finds out that he left her basically penniless. With no money and nowhere else to turn, Maxie moves in with Lucas while she tries to find a new job. But the sparks begin to fly now that they are in close proximity. And the lies that Keith told to them both begin to unravel further opening their hearts to one another. This story touches your heartstrings from the get go. I know you'll love Lucas and Maxie as much as I did!

Going down fabulous This is the second book in this series and is absolutely fabulous. Lucas and Maxie are perfect together. This is a friends to lovers story and you are always cheering for them but with so many twists and turns and so many people that it looks like are against Lucas and Maxie can they really end up together. Carly Phillips masterfully ties in many characters from other books but you haven't had to have read them to understand. Carly Phillips keeps you wanting more in this book and I can't wait for the next installment.

Well, the second book in Carly Phillip's Billionaire Bad Boys did NOT disappoint! I want to be honest for a minute. When I read the prologue, I got nervous. I don't typically read books about the girl wanting the other brother. I can't ever wrap my head around how those will work. But, I kept on reading and I quickly realized that this was a book I could EASILY get lost in. It was so great. I fell so hard for Lucas. He rocked my socks. His love for Maxie is so all consuming that it couldn't be ignored, no matter how hard they tried. Maxie was just awesome! Life had dealt her an extremely unfair hand but she made the most of it.....and got the right brother in the end! Great, fast paced, sexy, funny story!!! Happy reading!

When I finished the first book in the Billionaire Bad Boys series, I was already anticipating how much I was going to enjoy the next book and Carly Phillips did not let me down! Lucas Monroe and Maxie Sullivan have been friends since they were kids. Lucas has always carried a torch for Maxie, but back when they were kids, he was the skinny nerd that never got the girl and especially the one he wanted most - Maxie. Fast forward several years and he has bulked up, started a company with his best friends, that made him a billionaire, and oh yeah, that girl that he's always wanted? She was married to his brother, making her completely off limits. Maxie has always leaned on Lucas, it's just part of how their relationship has worked. He helped her the night her world fell apart the first time and following the death of her husband, and his brother, she turned to him again when she learned more about the deceit her husband left behind - the fact that she was now homeless after being foreclosed on. As she moves in, she knows that this may be a difficult situation for her because of the feelings she's always fought for her brother-in-law. When another threat is levied against Maxie, Lucas promises to stand by her; to help her get to the bottom of the situation. The sparks also begin to fly and these two realize that they are fighting a losing battle trying to stay away from one another. The chemistry is off the charts and all of the years of friendship only contribute to making the foundation of the new relationship that much stronger. The question is, can these two take what they both need, and want, and not worry about what others are going to think about it? Carly Phillips does a wonderful job of giving us steamy, hot and emotional along with a dose of suspense and intrigue. Carly is one of my "go-to" authors and she did not disappoint with this new book and I can't wait to get my hands on the next one in this series!

Lucas may have been a shrewd businessman, but he was a little slow on the uptake when it came to his feelings. He lost his heart a long time ago and has suffered in silence ever since. When the woman of his dreams walks back into his life, he will move heaven and earth to make her his. Maxie is her own worse enemy. Her heart's desire is to find love and happiness. Not easy when choices keep making her life more of a mess. When danger and her past collide, will she face up to all the emotions she's tried to hide? Lucas is deeper than I realized. Who would have thought he battled insecurity and a broken heart behind that aloof exterior? He allowed his brain to out vote his heart. Going Down Fast is an emotional roller-coaster. Maxie and Lucas made me dizzy with the will they or won't they, but it was a ride I would gladly take again.
