About the Author

Pat Macchia, the son of an Italian immigrant and an American mother, was born at the tail end of the Great Depression. He was too young to understand what that meant, and because of this, thought everyone had very little. Having great parents more than made up for anything they didn’t have.

His family lived in Brooklyn, New York, which he thought was the only place to be . Pat’s father worked hard and fortunately was able to buy a small bungalow on Long Island, which is where Pat spent almost all of his Summers. It was also where he met his beautiful wife. They have three great children, five granddaughters and two great grandsons that they are blessed to be able to see often and are very proud of.
Pat made his living as a carpenter and residential builder. His great interest in reading books about the American Civil War compelled the author to write this book and hopes people will enjoy reading it as much as he enjoyed writing it.
