Overview

Twenty-three years after driven from Nauvoo, Illinois, the Mormons now suffer a different invasion in the Utah Territory by forces transported to them. Criminal misfits from other towns enter their community and take over government. Violent attempts of city officials and vice operators to free themselves from a duty-bound sheriff's office bring them face to face with a formidable young deputy. He didn't want the job, and has to sacrifice his dreams to protect his community. Following the history in Notorious Two-Bit Street, a story of human experience is created here from the fantasies of the author-historian.

Meet the Author

The author, Lyle J. Barnes, JD, is a 43-year hostage of a history started in 1966. Trying to avoid boring historical subjects in the task of writing a master's thesis, he opened up a Pandora's Box of facts and data filed away in newspapers, police reports, and the memories of the people who lived the saga of Two-Bit Street. He has been quoted in history books and sought by professors and others to clarify and give enlightenment about the Street's colorful past. Kind of like a chronic itch, his need to share this revealing history has been permanently scratched.
