One can feel the emotion as readily as the perspiration dripping from the traveler’s brow. Tender moments, and times of laughter alike, are constructed with the care of a master’s brush on his canvas, creating new landscapes and new ways of thinking. This portrait of life, captures all the complexities of travel, through life and across continents, with it’s diverse absurdities; and all the while, the fragile beauty of humanity lies waiting to be discovered.

About the Author

David Lee Andersen is what he wanted to be when he grew up....Everything possible.

Growing up in Iowa, not far from the Field of Dreams movie site, his life seems to embody that movie's blend of mystery and poignant optimism. His life trajectory has followed a crooked road full of unexpected detours. Bouncing happily from one tangential trail to another, from his beginnings as an irreverent "fraternity brat," to a "campus radical," from an aborted career tract as a journalist, to a wrangler on a ranch in Colorado, to an award-winning architect and planner, to a speaker and author; David has left few doors unopened.

His writing sometimes betrays an intimacy seldom seen among today's writers. His story-telling reflects his varied and rich journey without parallel. An adventure for the reader that is not without laughter, and occasionally, not without tears. David Lee Andersen is a welcome new voice in American Literature.

This is a surprisingly stunning and enjoyable read. It is amazing because it is inspirational, depthfully thought provoking, light, and humorous--all at the same time! It took me from one adventure to another...with contrasting mood swings.. from serious reflections on timely issues... to the discovery of unexpected humor, buried in the most ordinary aspects of life. At some points the author's writing embodies boyish charm... at other points quiet inspiration. Throughout the book I sensed a certain authenticity that I found both comforting and affirming. It is a perfect poolside book, something to explore while curled up by a fire on a wintry night--or, as I like to do, read a small snippet each night before bed or anytime I need a few moments of quiet inspiration. GREAT BOOK--highly recommended!!!!!!

David Anderson’s writing encourages us to look deeper, to find meaning in both the sacred and the mundane as we travel—often too quickly— through life’s experiences. David sees, reflects, and writes in a way that starts conversations by asking us to pause and ponder. Most of all, David encourages us to find hope, humor, and joy in the chaotic, yet beautiful, world in which we live. - Colleen Scanlan Lyons (Anthropologist and Project Director, University of Colorado at Boulder)

This is the work of an amazing writer. Reading this book satisfied my hunger for thoughtful storytelling that led me to consider and reconsider the truths that exist as part of the human condition. I did not expect the panorama of feelings experienced while reading--from laughter, to tears, to a deep reverence for humanity. At some points I was surprised to feel enraged by the author's revelations, and at other times I was reassured and comforted by the beauty of our humanness . It left me transformed. Two thumbs up for an awesome reading adventure!

David Andersen’s wry and understated observations on ordinary and often over-looked topics yield startling insights and reflect his passion for the environment, his roots as a Midwesterner, and an unflagging commitment to his role as a thoughtful and caring citizen of the world.
