Overview
The third audio release spun off the enormously popular Nickelodeon preschool series "Blue's Clues" is a typically engaging outing, featuring all the elements that make the show so popular. To begin with, there's human, live-action host Steve Burns, whose reassuringly genial voice keeps things gently but firmly grounded. There's the otherworldly-sounding puppy Blue, and the creatures and objects she calls friends, such as Mr. Salt, Mrs. Pepper, and their baby Paprika. And of course, there's the central mystery that must be solved by playing the game Blue's Clues: Blue offers up a trio of easy-to-figure-out hints that help tiny listeners figure out what Blue's got on her mind. In this case, the puppy has her friends trying to figure out what she wants to dream about. The album opens with Steve offering an introduction to sounds that kids identify with nighttime. A sweet original song, "Bedtime Business," is sung, which is designed to get little ones used to the idea that it's time to turn in - and then there's the Blue's Clues game itself. Included free with both the CD and cassette version of this album is a mini version of a book Steve reads on the album, a story called "Goodnight Bird." GOODNIGHT BLUE is one of those potentially invaluable albums around which parents can build a solid bedtime tradition.
