Our two-year-old boy with verbal apraxia usually has trouble sitting still...especially at bedtime. But Andrew requested this book repeatedly...even asking for it by name--now that's progress!! He cried when we returned Lulu to the library but finally waved a reluctant 'bye-bye Lulu.' So we bought a copy for him and it's his favorite book. The pictures are large, colorful and very expressive. The prose reads well with some repitition so young children can 'read' along. Kids love the silliness and parents can relate when Lulu asks, ' what if an alligator comes in while I'm asleep'.

Goodnight Lulu is a wonderful book! My 2 year old son absolutely adores it and so do I. Goodnight Lulu is high on our gift-giving list. What will Ms. Bogan come up with next...I can't wait to find out.

This is a delaying-bedtime story of the "what if" variety. In this one, the what ifs are "what if various animals come into my room", with the vigorous and active response.Momma's language is over-the-top in its cutesiness, but that just adds to the fun of the book. This is a more active going-to-bed book, so you should probably read it at the BEGINNING of your bedtime rotation instead of as your last book before lights out.

We love this book. My daughter laughs hysterically at the antics of Momma and especially at the amazing illustrations. We love how a chicken can have so many expressions (and pigs too). We have given this book as a birthday gift over and over again to friends and family. I am a performing arts teacher for young children and I use this book in my classes too - a fun one to act out (at home too). And we are so excited for the new adventures of Lulu to come.

This is an adorable bedtime story about a mother chicken who puts all her baby's fears 'to rest' with her words of comfort. Bedtime is often scary for children. Their fears of the dark and of being protected are covered here in this whimsical story to be read and re-read for years to come. Thumbs-up to Paulette Bogan for her gorgeous illustrations!

I truly adored this book and I am 24! The characters in Goodnight Lulu are so cute, and the pictures are beautifully painted. The shapes and colors are captivating and the story made me smile. Oh the love that Momma and Lulu share, a wonderful story about mother and child. Well done Paulette Bogan! I would like to see Lulu appear again in more stories. Perfect for a summer night bedtime story, a rainy afternoon, or even to cozy up and just read a good book.

Lovely Lulu reminds me of my own children whose fears surface as part of their bedtime ritual. Her mama models for me and mine how to keep patience and calm the precious babes to sleep. As loveable as Little Bear and Mother Bear!

We love Lulu and all the funny barnyard animals that her Mama chases away! This is a great book to read at bedtime.

AS A MOTHER OF A SON WHO HAS DIFFICULTY FALLING ASLEEP I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK BECAUSE IT RELATES TO A CHILD'S TRUE FEARS AT NIGHT AND MAKES THEM LAUGH AND SEE JUST HOW COMMON AND / SILLY THEIR FEARS CAN BE.WHO ISN'T AFRAID OF THE DARK?BY READING SUCH AN ORIGINAL AND WITTY TALE IT CAN EASE TROUBLES AWAY AND LET THE CHILD FALL ASLEEP WITH A SMILE ON HIS/HER FACE.THE ILLUSTRATIONS ARE MARVELLOUS...COLORFUL AND FULL OF EXPRESSION...WHICH A CHILD CAN RELATE TO AND FANTASIZE ABOUT.( AND HOPEFULLY DREAM ABOUT).

I think this is a good book because a lot of people DO get scared at night! This book makes it funny, so when you think about being scared you laugh. Momma chicken is like my own Mom.
