Great book! McArthur really nails it. If a person claims to be saved and cant see the truth that McArthur presents then they should check out 1 Corinthians 2:14 and evaluate there spirituality.

This was probably the 2nd most important book I ever read (behind the Bible itself). This book shook my world and really made me take a good look at myself. Everything in this book is backed up by the scriptures. You can't refute what Dr. Macarthur is saying without denying the word of God.

Dr. John Macarthur is one of the best Bible teachers of the in the past 20 years or so. His book is accurate in it's claims and indeed does square with biblical truth. I highly recommend it!

The Intro. alone is worth double the price. Through the Bible and this book, I understand genuine saving faith. Thank you, Dr. MacArthur. C. Jasmagy

This book provides an argument for the Gospel as it was shared by Jesus (and the Apostles) in a straightforward manner. It is hard to read this book and then read the New Testament without saying to oneself, “Of course Jesus demands obedience!” Thank you for this book.

This book is a very powerful and Biblical presentation of the truth that being a Christian is more than just saying I am one. A Christian acts and thinks differently than a non-Christian. I think McArthur has been wrongly accused of promoting some new doctrine called "Lorship Salvation" when in fact all he's doing is discussing what the Bible says about the cost of following Christ. This is not a new concept but an old one, as old as scripture itself. If I claim to be a believer yet consistently think and behave like a pagan, chances are I'm not a Christian whether I've "prayed the prayer" or not. McArthur does an excellent job of fleshing out this concept from scripture and I would highly recommend this book to any believer who wants to evaluate their walk in the light of what the Bible says about being a disciple of Christ.

Never before have I encountered such profound expository teaching. With great thought and meditation I have built a humble appreciation for the truths laid open by Pastor John MacArthur. As it should be when approaching God’s Word, seeking to understand and apply it is challenging so I love how JM goes in-depth with explaining such controversial topics head on. Great read for all people.
