Overview

Graham's Charlotte by Drew Farnsworth

When a mysterious stranger gives Mads Riley a cell phone that knows everything, her life changes forever. Mads has the power to unlock the secrets of the universe-past, present and future. The phone predicts earthquakes, tells her what's on the other side of a locked door, and even reveals the trick to get out of last night's math homework.

Mads is soon asked to use the device to break into the most heavily defended spy agency in the world. She's told it's the only way to save her mother's life.

Will her mission save someone she loves, or is she betraying the country that her father died for?

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Graham's Charlotte is a wonderful action packed YA story, but you don't have to be a young adult to enjoy it. I loved every second of it. I had a hard time putting it down. I feel as though the author portrayed the main character very realistically & it was great having such a unique female lead. The concept of a cell that knows everything & a teenager trying to deal with the responsibility of using such a powerful tool was a refreshing fun idea. I also like the faint theme of the Wizard of OZ, one of my favorite stories. I do want to add, on account of the author bringing it up in a message to me, that this is suppose to be 1 of a 4 book series. It is obvious at the end of the book that the author plans to do more with the story. This is Drew Farnsworth's first book & I can't wait for the next 3 to come.

Mads Riley is a smart girl and while in an airport on a trip with her Spanish class, she’s slipped a cell phone with some amazing abilities. It can give her all sorts of information about the past, future, and present. Yet when she’s asked to potentially commit espionage to save her mother’s live, she’s not sure what the right decision is. She doesn’t want to betray her country or the memory of her heroic father, but she wants to save the only family she has left. GRAHAM’S CHARLOTTE is a novel of intrigue and the potential of technology, combined with the struggles of being a teenager. The story is engaging and I liked Mads, her strength and courage shone through. I felt as if the secondary characters were a less well-defined and the plot became looser toward the end of the book. After finishing GRAHAM’S CHARLOTTE, I was definitely left with more questions than answers. Perhaps there will be a sequel…
