About the Author

David Crook is Senior Lecturer in History of Education at the Institute of Education, University of
London.

Geoff Whitty currently holds a Research Professorship at Bath Spa University and a Global Innovation Chair at the University of Newcastle, Australia. He was Director of the Institute of Education, University of London from 2000 to 2010, and a specialist advisor to the House of Commons Education Select Committee from 2006 to 2012.
