if you like 311 music then you will like this cd. the best songs are homebrew silver 1,2,3, and appiled science. This is a good gift to get for the holidays.

Their debut album, MUSIC, was amazing, and just three months later, 311 comes back with their sophomore CD, GRASSROOTS. This album is equally impressive as the first one. The lyrics have improved from the band's first attempt, but the rhythms and guitar tracks rock just as hard. The drummer, CHAD SEXTON, displays his talents on this album as noted by his minute long solo on track 6, APPLIED SCIENCE. The energy felt by the listener of GRASSROOTS is that of extreme excitement and the urge to jump around. The songs seem to tell the story of the band's home life, before making it big. This album truly is a must own, proving once again, 311 is not just a band, it's a way of life.

Grassroots is a cool cd. It definitely has a different sound than some of 311s other albums, but that doesn't mean it's not good, don't get me wrong. In fact, this cd is one of my favorites! I absolutely love the slow and perfect songs like 8:16 am, lose, and 1,2,3. In contrast, i can't stop playing homebrew, lucky, omaha stylee, applied science, and taiyed. I think I could just listen to this album endlessly and live a wonderful, fulfilled life. I can only thank the guys of 311 for making this kind of music. (it really does heal my life too, when sometimes nothing else will).

i've only been listening to 311 for about half a year, but they've already greatly influenced my life. Let me tell you, there is NOTHING better than waking up to "homebrew" at 8:00 in the morning. In fact, listening to 311 makes me want to actually get up. i've become absolutely addicted to "salsa", "8:16 a.m.", "taiyed", "silver", but most of all "lucky". like every 311 album i've heard so far, this one makes me feel good. you'd think a band w/ so many albums would suck after awhile - not the case here.
