Overview

It's a cold November night but things are hotting up in the Parish Rooms in the wealthy village of St. John. On the agenda is desire, murder and blackmail but only one of them knows why. The old General is dead and his beautiful home Well Grange is up for sale. The new Localism Act allows for the Council to buy it for the community but someone wants it for themselves. Della the corrupt clerk and Bad Bob a blackmailing fixer manipulate the plan but who is controlling them? Beautiful Councillor Kate wants Chairman Gray but not for the right reasons. He wants her but that isn't more important than what he really needs to do. As old Councillors go two very interesting women join up but with someone else's agenda. Who is behind it all and who has more to gain than validation from the electorate? Perhaps the answer lies seventy years ago in the diaries of the old butler at the house. Professor Riley Ridgeway digs deep to reveal the secret of Well Grange but will that be the end of the mystery? If you thought Parish Councils were dull find out what they might really be up to.

About the Author

Lady Kay has been a Parish Councillor in a small rural village for a number of years. Whilst her and her voluntary colleagues work hard to help their community she finds the delightful characters around her ever inspirational for fictional writing. She has met people of every age, motivation and deviation and never runs out of possibilities for future dubious activities in exciting St. John. 'After Gray' is already a work well in progress with Professor Riley Ridgeway planned to be the next favourite TV detective.
Other novels at various stages of completion are 'The Adrenalin Arena' a social statement work providing a fictional answer to the country's current woes. 'The Duchess Conspiracy' based on a high level assassination plot and most importantly 'Dear Irene, Love Frank' an apostolic novel based on a series of love letters written by her father in 1949.
Prior to retiring three years ago she graduated from the University of East Anglia with a degree in history and politics, had a successful career in fashion retail then ran her own business whilst renovating Victorian properties.
She is a member of the Balsall Writers group where she gains useful feedback and encouragement from her fellow aspiring authors.
2014 will hopefully bring completion of at least some of her on-going projects and publication first on Kindle and then in print.
