The plot and characters are well developed and interesting. Each personality is distinct and uniform throughout the story (all three books). The details within the story are just enough so the read's own imagination can form the images easily. The story is fluid, comedic, serious, heartfelt, and reads easily. I do not remember there being any vulgarity, there isn't any sexuality, and is a very clean, exciting read. The length of the novels is over 900 pages, an unprecedented amount for a free book. This is the kind of novel I look for because I want more book for my buck. I am an avid reader and I average about 150 pages an hour. So an "average" novel is nothing more than a magazine article to me. The length is amazing and I am extremely pleased to say that I enjoyed every word! One of the greatest failings I find in some authors is that they spend too much time with the details. I really don't need to be told that the leaf on the tree has 5 main veins running through the center etc etc. A clearer example, recently I read a novel where the author spent 5 pages describing a tree. A tree that didn't have any direct bearing on the story line other than it was in front of the character. This is what I refer to as book filler or fluff. Unnecessary detailed information for the sole purpose of filling the bare minimum of 10,000 words. I am thrilled to say that Joseph Lallo does not suffer from the affliction of detail diarrhea. If the characters in the story can make me laugh out loud more than once, I usually find it's a good story. I love quick intelligent wit. Countless times while reading this story my husband would say to me, "You are smiling at the book." "You are giggling at the book." "Stop laughing at the book." We read the same kind of books and I can't wait for him to finish the novel he is currently on so I can repeat those same lines back to him! I LOVE the fact that there isn't any detailed sex or seedy romance in the story. Yes, there is a touch of romance, but it is kid friendly, and it is more like a dash rather than a sprinkle. My son (16 yrs old) reads the same genres that my husband and I read, it's a family event. I enjoy being able to pass my books onto my son and then all of us discuss them afterwards. Sorry this is such a long review but stating, "Great read" just didn't seem to do this justice. I am greatly looking forward to more novels from Joseph Lallo. "Jo" is becoming one of my favorite authors. Keep up the good work Jo! And if you need and editor to proof read sometime for you, just let me know! (Seriously)

I was enthralled by the first two books. I can't wait to read the last one. My only issue is with the editing. Punctuation is poor, and a few misplaced words make the reading uncomfortable at times. My only recommendation is a good editor.

The Great Convergence is book #2 of the 3 part series. It is an enjoyable read, but not as much as The Book Of Deacon, book #1 in the series. I also think that you need to read book #1 before reading The Great Convergence, or large parts of the story will not make sense. I enjoyed the magic and the different creatures and characters that are brought to life on the "pages" of the eBook. Its too bad that the book seems to have been hastily written and/or edited, because there are multiple spelling/grammatical/punctuation errors throughout the book. The Great Convergence is an enjoyable read as it lets you jump in to another world.

I began the Book of Deacon series out if boredom. The first book was free and 900 pages - I figured that would keep me busy for a while. However, I was pleasently surprised by the well developed caracters and gripping storyline. I'm about to start book 3, and while I'm anxious to see how it all turns out, I'm also a bit sad that it's coming to an end. As for the length of these books - I am a fast reader; the average 200-300 page book only lasts me aday or two. I love that the Deacon triligy has substance to their books allowing for a deeper story line, as well as book that lasts a week or more.

One of the best Sci-fi authors ever. Holds you on the edge of your seat and keeps you turning pages. I liked the first book and this one is better. Wish I could see this on the big screen, it would be a great movie for special effects. I can hardly wait to start the 3 Rd book and find out how it ends. The charter development is excellent and you cant help but being drawn into the story and wishing for ( our ) heros to succeed! If you are a Sci-fi fan, do not miss this one. It was a great book and I highly recommend it.

This is a truly wonderful series. In this book young Myranda Celeste, sets out to find the chosen. A group of warriors who will stop the century long war that has plagued Myranda's land. Full of mystical creatures, magic, good and evil..this book will take you on a quest you won't soon forget.

You REIN somebody in. You hand over the REINs of the Army. Reins are the things that control a horse. Reign is a word pronounced the same but meaning something different. There are several similar issues in the book. The lack of a non-electronic editor costs it a 5 star rating. But I will say that this is a trilogy that is very hard to put down, with a fun story, plot twists, a little bit of (clean) romance, and all of the other things one wants in a good fantasy! There are not many authors that can keep a book moving along at a good clip through 900 pages!

The author is brillant and should charge a lot more for the series! I am an avid reader of this genre and he by far exceeds the majority of authors out there- vivid scenery and addictive plot- can't speak highly enough of both author and series! Thank you Mr Lallo for writing! You have a gift!

The series remains pretty good here, but is starting to wear out its welcome. Several of the main characters are near intolerably childish, the battles drag on, and one of themain mysteries---though overly telegraphed---is revealed and thrown away for almost no payoff. Still good young adult fantasy genre fiction, but not much more.

I started this book somewhat apprehensive based on reviews that I read....I am glad I bought it. Very good, yes he got the names mixed up twice but if your into it the way I was, it is an afterthought.

I love this series whole heartedly. It's a story of a woman who never strayed from her true self and didn't need a love interest to keep her going like all those other novels. Truly exceptional!
