If this site says the 2002 edition of Great Lodges of the National Parks is out of print, that's not true. It means that Ingrams is not distributing the book to Barnes & Noble. The best way to purchase the book (and all of Christine's titles)is through the author's website www.greatlodges.com. Sorry B&N. Both this volume and the 2007, Great Lodges of the National Parks, Volume Two were companion books to the PBS television series and are being rerun on PBS in 2009 in conjunction with Ken Burns' National Parks: America's Best Idea. Go to www.greatlodges.com for more information on these books the author and photographers.

Our National Parks are something all Americans can be proud of along with the wonderful lodges so many of us have memories of visiting. This book reminded me of that as I thumbed through the pages full of incredible photography, old photographs of the lodges when they opened, and then the detailed stories of each one's history.Owning the book is a treat, but better yet, is to stay in places like the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone, our first national park. Any admirer of the parks and architecture will appreciate not only the fine photography, but the detailed history that draws you through each stunningly illustrated page. There are stories of 17 lodges (a few of them are smaller chalets) in 16 chapters with short chapters on each of the parks from Glacier National Park in Montana to the Grand Canyon in Arizona.
