Overview

The Great Scot by Donna Kauffman

In Bad Boys in Kilts, USA Today bestselling author Donna Kauffman introduced the divinely sexy Chisholm brothers. Now, get ready for oldest brother Dylan, a man whose duty to his heritage will not be upended by anything--or anyone. But passion has a way of throwing everything off-kilter. . .

Loch And Load, Baby

Location coordinator Erin McGregor knows she's finally found the perfect setting for her romance reality show, Your Prince Charming. The Chisholm clan stronghold in the Scottish Highlands has it all--romantic moors, windswept cliffs, misty lochs, a four-hundred-year-old castle, and possibly the most gorgeous man she's ever laid eyes on in chieftain Dylan Chisholm. Nothing like a guy with a sexy accent and a big. . .turret to make a girl all wonky-kneed. Right. No time for wonky. Time to get over her fixation with the Hot Scot and get back to business. And Erin will. . .any minute now. . .

With his three youngest brothers spoken for, Dylan Chisholm is at the top of his village's matchmaking list. Now they've sent some impish, forthright American lass up to tempt him into a devil's bargain: he can let the Yanks use his castle to film their foolish romance show, and in exchange, he'll get the money his village desperately needs. It took a tragic loss to get Dylan to embrace his heritage and his duty. He can't turn away from such a promising offer. But keeping his thoughts off Erin McGregor is another matter. She's everything he never wanted in a woman, and suddenly, she's everything he craves in every way possible. . .

I hate to write a bad review but this book was so long when it didn't need to be. There were so many pages of internal debate and not enough dialogue between the characters. I loved the first three books of the series and this one was a dissapointment. I ended up skipping entire sections just to get to the dialogue and was still underwhelmed. I barely finished the book. I did love the main characters but I think the book could have been shorter and more to the point.

The book was great fun. Donna Kauffman is an enjoyable read anytime. I really liked how you got to know the people "outside" their comfort zone.

This was good, but not great. The three short stories that preceeded this one (about the other three Chisholm brothers) were MUCH better. It's as if Kauffman wanted to end this series with a full-length novel, but she didn't have more story, just more words. It was frequently tedious and repetitive.

The American came to Scotland seeking the perfect romantic setting for the romance reality show Your Prince Charming. Erin McGregor believes she found the ideal locale in the Glenbuie area of the Scottish Highlands as the Chisholm Keep feels right out of Pride and Prejudice. --- Being a sensible girl, Erin also finds the owner Dylan Chisholm quite hot too. Dylan agrees to allow Erin and her ridiculous reality show to use his castle as the villagers need the extra income that the visitors will bring though he detests the concept and plans to avoid her and her show. However, THE GREAT SCOT learns intentions and reality are quite different as he and Erin fall into lust with one another until she fears she has fallen in love with someone who loathes the emotion. --- The follow-up to the McGregor three siblings¿ novellas (see BAD BOYS IN KILTS) is a heated (especially outdoors) contemporary romance in which Hollywood meets old fashion Scotland. The changing relationship between the lead couple drives the story line starting when a reluctant Dylan agrees to Erin¿s offer, and then morhs into a tryst and finally into love. The relationship is doomed of one of them don¿t admit their true feelings. Though somewhat feeling extended (as if a novella was more suited) fans will enjoy Donna Kauffman¿s fun frolic between the Yank and the Scot. --- Harriet Klausner
