All living things have a life cycle. An animal's life cycle begins when it is born and is completed when it has young of its own. During their life cycles, different animals grow and change in different ways.
Thousands of different animals species are known to live in and around the ocean. Although they share the same saltwater environment, each of these marine animals has its own unique life cycle.
Still inside her mother's womb, a great white shark pup hatches from her egg. She is almost fully developed, but must wait a little longer before she can swim off on her own. She is already hungry and feeds, on other eggs while still inside her mother. Even before she is born, she is showing signs of the predator she will become.
