Gr 2-4-Two series entries with "politically correct" viewpoints, well-reproduced photos, good indexes, and suggestions for Internet sites (although none listed seemed to be working). The first book omits the Golden Age of Greece from its time line-a curious lapse-but otherwise seems competent. Mexico is already dated due to the recent election surprise, but otherwise covers the subjects briefly and adequately. Features such as "Fast Facts" and "Timeline" and a recipe inserted in each are good; the maps of each country, however, are not detailed enough to be useful. Neither title gives libraries reason to desert the "New True" and "True Books" series (Children's) or the "Take a Trip" series (Watts) unless for diversification in the collection.-Judith Constantinides, formerly at East Baton Rouge Parish Main Library, LA Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information.
