I think some people might be turned off by this book due to the adultery content. I find that I have little tolerance for it myself. Yet for some reason, this book just seemed to work for me. Maybe because the author did a very good job of showing that it really was just a marriage of convenience that happened to work for BOTH parties and that the friendship between the two was a key element to their relationship. Maybe it worked because the author stressed that she left him and she consequently defined the rules of the relationship. Maybe it worked because the author did a great job of explaining how two very young people can be ruthlessly manipulated and torn apart by bitter family feuds. Maybe it worked, because the author dropped tons of hints that Nick really was very interested in his wife and that he was just trying to carefully navigate walking through a mine field because he couldn't risk losing her. Or maybe, it was because once they did consummate the marriage and start living together as a married couple, he never once cheated on her and it became an all consuming campaign to win her over. Whatever it was, it worked for me!
