About the Author

My name is Daniel Galt. My friends call me Denny, and my students call me Mr. G. In my formative years, I lived in several states as well as Spain and the Philippines while my father served in the U.S. Air Force. I don't remember Spain too much, but I do remember the Philippines. We moved on average every three years.

While my father was in the Air Force, I attended four elementary, three middle, and two high schools. I sang in the Glee Club and played the recorder in elementary school; played on the JV soccer team, was an officer in a few clubs, a writer and photographer on the yearbook staff, and bowled my first perfect 300 game at the age of 16 in 1992 while I was in high school.

After graduating Clarke Central High School, I attended Georgia Southern University for one year before transferring to Georgia College & State University. I graduated in 1999 with a bachelor in management and marketing. While at GC&SU, I was on the bowling team, joined the fencing club, and was a member of both the management and marketing teams.

A couple of years later I decided to go back to school to become a teacher. I attended Piedmont College and graduated in May of 2003 with a Master of Arts in Teaching in the field of Special Education.

Fast forward to November of 2013 when I wrote my first seven paragraphs of The Best Substitute Ever: As Told by a Fifth Grader. The next thing I knew, just a few days later, I had 18 pages. I paused for family time during Christmas. During this break, I began writing a new a series of books, but that is another story. In November of 2015, I published my book through Telemachus. Now, August 2016, my second book, Gregory's Poetry Corner: Poems from Workaholic Elementary School is being published.

I was born with Neurofibromatosis (NF). I am active with the Children's Tumor Foundation (CTF) and with the Neurofibromatosis Network. Both organizations raise funds for research. Please visit: www.ctf.org and http://www.nfnetwork.org/ for more about the genetic disorder. Even with this genetic disorder I have, I do my best to look at the brighter side of things.

"When you write from your heart, you will create poetic ART!"
