Straight out of the psych ward, Cora just wants her life to be normal. She doesn't want to see souls or the reapers collecting them. It's no wonder love is the last thing on her mind when Echo storms into her

Straight out of the psych ward, Cora just wants her life to be normal. She doesn't want to see souls or the reapers collecting them. The guy she's loved from a distance for years moves away without saying goodbye. So yes, she's nursing a serious heartbreak. It's no wonder love is the last thing on her mind when Echo storms into her life.

The chemistry between them is mind-blowing. The connection defies logic. Even better, the souls leave her alone when he is around. Too bad Echo is the poster boy for everything she hates in a guy-hot, beautiful, and cocky. He is also a soul reaper. A Grimnir. The very beings she wants out of her life. Maybe normal is overrated because Cora wants it all. Answers. Love. A life.

Walters is a great writer and I love her world of the runes—it really is Norse mythology at its finest. Cora and Echo’s story is an amazing addition to the already awesome Raine and Torin, and I actually might just love them a little more than the previous main characters… a close tie, to say the least. This novel is a little more hot and heavy than its predecessors, and my one and only issue with it is the sexual escapades. I’m not 100% sold on the love relationship between the characters, but as immortals and soul mates, it is indeed more than plausible—I just feel like I need a little bit more relationship building and a little less sex. I especially don’t need the visuals when it comes to their personal happy times together. Thankfully, Walters fades to black for the majority of it, which I am extremely happy about, but she doesn’t every time, and there’s more times than I personally feel like need to be in the story as it doesn’t necessarily drive the plot. Aside from this, Cora and Echo’s story is fantastic, and I really enjoyed getting to know them more in this novel.

**I received a free copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest review** Cora Jemison has just been to Hel and back…not the Hel you may think of, but her own person Hel…after seeing some of her swim teammate’s ghosts being lead away by angelic beings after the pool was struck by lightning and she starts seeing other ghosts after the tragedy at her swim meet, her parents of course become worried and take her to the doctor, and he convinces them to commit her a mental institution.  And now that she is out, she will do ANYTHING to never go back there again. So when she meets Echo, the tattooed man in leather who seems to be able to communicate with and take away the ghosts, she doesn’t know whether to be afraid or thrilled…especially since he acts like he knows her (intimately!!) and talks to her about her “job”.  She is baffled, yet intrigued by the gorgeous mystery man. After her brush with Echo (and more ghosts {SIGH}), she is more than ever ready to get back to her “normal” teenage life – by going back to school and her vlog she loves updating…but she soon realizes that everything she thought she knew about her so called friends (Eirik and Raine didn’t visit her ONCE through her stint at PMI – the institution she was at, and then she finds out that Eirik has left without saying goodbye…so much for true love).  Since the Norms (who she can’t remember ANYTHING about, as they erased her memories  of them) as still messing with her life, it’s like she never left – seeing as the evil Maliina (an Immortal Norm) has been pretending to be her while she was at PMI.  When she finally forgives Raine (her BFF), she starts finding things out about all the oddities that have been occurring around her – from the mysterious and sexy Echo to why she is now receiving straight A’s and her beloved vlog has been updated, even though she can’t remember doing it herself. Piece by piece, through the help of Raine, Torin, and Echo, Cora starts realizing what has happened, and why she can see ghosts.  It all boils down to the evil Norn Maliina and the jealousy that she harbors toward Raine and all of those that are connected to her.  Once Raine, Torin, and Echo reveal what and who they really are to her, Cora feels like her life finally starts to make more sense…as well as her attraction to Echo.  Through it all, she learns she CAN count on her friends – and even Echo – to be there until the end. I LOVED this bridge between Immortals and the soon to be released Seeress!  I thought having a book from another’s perspective was brilliant – and showing the love story that Cora engages in did at times make me blush a little, but it was an intricate part of her final decision in the book – a love that reaches across all time and space.  I cannot WAIT for  Seeress to come out to see what else the Norms are going to throw at Raine, Torin, Cora, Echo, Eirik, and the rest of the Valkyries.

This is the only Runes book I have read, and I immediately fell in love with Cora and Echo…well, more so Echo. Cora, I could really give or take. (How cool is that name, Echo?) I never really felt a connection to Cora’s friends, Raine and Torin, who the other books focus on. That being said, I don’t know if it’s worth going back to read 1(Runes) and 2 (Immortals) if you haven’t already, but they have some pretty decent reviews, so maybe. I’m probably just biased to the sexy snarkiness that is Echo, though. Be warned– this is New Adult, not Young Adult. There are quite a few graphic references that should be reserved for older teenagers/20-somethings. I’m probably old-school, but had I read this in early high school, I would have been thoroughly scandalized (and prematurely educated). Cora is a bit demanding, but Eco thrives on that so it makes quite an interesting dynamic between the two. Unfortunately (or fortunately) for Cora, Echo thinks she’s just making up the fact that she doesn’t remember their recent relationship and continues to pursue her relentlessly. In reality, there may not actually be anything to remember, because she may not be who Echo thinks she is… curious, huh? You’ll just have to read and find out. You won’t regret it! The Runes Series is one of those series that kind of took me by surprise.  I knew I loved Ednah Walters' Guardian Legacy Series, so I really wanted to start this one, but what I didn't expect was how much I was going to love it.  In Runes book one, we meet Raine Cooper, Eirik, and Cora, and the amazingly hot Valkyrie Torin St. James, with his British accent, leather jack, riding a Harley, totally bad***, and oozing with hotness.  Raine and Torin's story continues in Immortals (Runes #2), and gets even better.  I really didn't think Ednah Walters could top it, and when I began Grimnirs I was looking forward to it and hoping it would be as good as the first two books.  Let me tell you, Grimnirs met and then surpassed my every expectation. I honestly think it is my favorite book so far.  Grimnirs is Cora's story.  I always liked Cora, but I really loved her in this book and so enjoyed getting to see a whole new side of her.  On a hotness factor, I never thought any of the other characters could even touch Torin St. James, but OMG, I kid you not, Echo absolutely blew me away.  Echo is a Grimnir (not to be confused with the Grim Reaper). He is as bad**s as bad*** can get.  He's cocky, hot as h*ll (no pun intended), has a smile that will cause you to melt in a puddle, and can charm your pants off, literally.  I'm not even sure if sex on a stick really does him justice.  He wears a leather hooded duster and is decked out in leather from head to toe, and even has a scythe and everything.  He's also crazy about Cora, fiercely loyal, and will do anything to protect her.  There is a lot more to Echo that meets the eye and I really enjoyed getting to know him and his story.  The chemistry between Echo and Cora is comparable to a lightning bolt, yes that intense, and I loved the romantic aspect of the novel. If you aren't familiar with the series, The Runes Series is heavily rooted in Norse Mythology incorporating it into a modern day setting.  Ednah Walters provides definitions at the beginning of the book for all the terminology and what it means, which is really a great asset.  I have read several books dealing with Norse Mythology over the past year or so, and I have to say that I love Ednah's take on it and the way she ties it in with the present and blends it all together, better than anything I've read thus far.  She does an excellent job of taking the paranormal aspect and mixing it in to a contemporary setting with some great romance, and provides an action-packed story that you won't want to put down.    If you are a paranormal romance fan, you'll want to check this out for sure, and even if you aren't, I think this is something that would appeal to you also.  Great book, great series, and I most definitely recommend it.

Review Of Grimnirs (Runes Series Book #2.5) By Ednah Walters Ednah Walters writing ALWAYS surprises me. Everyone of her stories never fails to garner a fierce response from me. When I first stated reading this series I immediately fell in LOVE with Torin St. James and thought no one could even come close to it. Well, Ednah blew that out of the water when she created Echo. He is beyond HOT, funny, did I mention HOT, with an undercurrent of badness to him. Cora Jemison is no longer just Raine's best friends; oh no, she can see souls everywhere she goes. On a trip to the grocery store Cora encounters Echo, a mysterious guy who seems to be shepherding the very souls she wants to escape from. While she can't take her eyes off him he stuns her by talking to her like he knows her. All the while she is thinking it is impossible because she would remember him if she did. Echo is a Grimnir, a reaper of souls. He guides souls to Hels Hall and he is great at his job. Echo is also not to be trusted because he will do any and everything to reach his end goal no matter who he has to destroy on the process. All that starts to change when the Cora he once thought he knew starts saying and acting differently then he is used to. He sees a softer side to her that makes him want to act that way as well. Once Echo realizes Cora is a Mortal he tries to do the right thing and let her go but Cora has other plans for her Grimnir. There is so much I want to say but I really don't want to give away any more of the story and ruin it for anyone. I so came close to tears reading this book. I had OMG moments and I there were a few times when I wished I had  this book in paperback so I could throw it or bang it in frustration. I LOVED the fact that this book made me a jumble of emotions. To me, that is what a brilliant writer does, they take you on an emotional roller coaster but never let you catch your breath. I CAN'T WAIT TIL BOOK #3. On a scale from 1-10 I give Grimnirs a 20. Every book Ednah writes topples my scale because anything less seems like he won't do he stories justice. If your a fan of her Runes Series than this is a MUST HAVE addition. If you are looking for a great story, HOT guys/girls, Norse Mythology, or just looking for amazing characters than Grimnirs is the book for you. I encourage everyone who loves this series to pick up a copy. If you haven't read this series then when you buy Grimnirs you should also buy Runes and Immortals. Let Cora and Echo show you something worth fighting for.
