Grit...we all have it but Dr. Stoltz enables us to grasp the good, the bad, the effective and the ineffective ways in which we use our grit. Like AQ before it, this book teaches us about a necessary component for success in life. The thoughts and lessons gained from GRIT are thoughts and lessons you will want to teach to your children.
I first met Paul and learned about his work on the adversity quotient in the summer of 1995, when I worked in human resources at Deloitte and he was facilitating the Deloitte Intern Student Leadership conference. Since then, I’ve introduced Paul and his company, PEAK Learning, to every company I went to work for: Marriott, ING (VOYA), Scripps Networks Interactive and BlackbookHR -- all of which are still his clients. Paul has become a personal friend, mentor and coach, and his body of work has influenced my approach to talent management and organizational development. Now in my first CEO role at employee engagement software startup BlackbookHR, I’m excited to add GRIT to my leadership toolbox. This well-written book contains valuable information that will help leaders and people at all levels improve themselves and do better in work and life. It’s also an excellent resource for companies looking to improve employee engagement and productivity.
