Overview

Growing Up Duggar: It's All About Relationships

In a rare look inside America’s favorite mega-sized family, the four eldest girls talk about their faith, their dreams for the future, and what it’s like growing up a Duggar.

It’s All About Relationships!

In this delightful and very personal book, the four oldest Duggar girls share their hearts and their core beliefs, explaining that it’s all about relationships!

• Relationship with self: The girls share their own personal journeys to self-acceptance and navigating the difficult stage of adolescence.

• Relationship with parents: You’ll find revelations about how Jim Bob and Michelle keep the lines of communication open with their children.

• Relationships with siblings: Here, you’ll get a peek into the Buddy system, how the siblings handle conflict, and how the loss of little Jubilee (their sister) affected their relationships with each other.

• Relationships with friends: You’ll find principles on how the Duggar kids deal with peer pressure and how they interact with friends outside their family.

• Relationships with boys: You’ll learn the Duggar view of dating and courtship, and these four sisters will address the often-asked question of when one of them will get married.

• Relationship with God: And woven throughout the book, the girls talk about their most important relationship of all—their relationship with God and their own personal faith and beliefs.

This candid look into what Jana, Jill, Jessa, and Jinger believe and why they believe it will give you practical insights into your own life and will inspire you to evaluate principles that will work for you.

I enjoyed this book, enjoyed hearing the stories of the Duggar family.  And while their convictions are not my own, I do like the fact that they understand that.  Each section that deals with relationships is very interesting I particularly enjoyed the section of the relationships between the father and daughter.  I think that this family and these young ladies have insight into the damage that anger does in a family better than anyone I have ever read.  Definitely a great read for someone dealing with anger issues.  I also loved the fact that the girls are not willing to settle for anyone but the one that the Lord has for them.  A great read.  4 stars.

I think these girls are absolutely lovely and a great example of wholesome, level headed, Christ minded young ladies. Had I read this in my teen years, and even early twenties (I'm 26 now) I think I would have made better descisions about choices I made and saved myself from a lot of heartache, guilt, disappointed parents and wouldn't have ended up as a single mother at 19. I love the show on TLC and wish these young ladies all the best! God Bless, Calissa Simmons

Like many people I've watched Jana, Jill, Jessa, and Jinger Duggar grow up on TV. In fact I live fairly close to them and have even had the privilege of meeting and interacting with them in person. When their new book, Growing Up Duggar: It's All About RELATIONSHIPS was offered to me to review I accepted it with pleasure. As an older married woman I found the book very interesting, but I have to be honest and say that I really think it is geared towards young women. The point of view they share, in my view, would more readily appeal to that age group. With candor and honesty they each share about some of their most intimate relationships that not only include their family and friends, but most importantly the God they love. The stories are interspersed with pictures of the family enjoying each other through the years.  Included in the book is also a short interview type section with the girls' older brother Josh and his wife Anna. They discuss their courtship from how it came about to the requirements that were lovingly imposed on them and to their eventual wedding. I thought this section and whole chapter on the differences between dating and courtship was very revealing about how the Duggars raise and value their children. I enjoyed reading about the girls' thoughts and perspectives on such a wide variety of topics. If you have watched them on their series or if you have just wondered about their everyday life and values I think you will really enjoy reading this book. I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

I am a 70 year old grandma & loved their book. I am so curious about this family. The teen girls are so beautiful & have the core values of god fearing adults. I loved the book, every child should have to read this.

It is written for preteen/teenage girls but I have enjoyed reading it since I am raising a girl. Getting ideas from young women living in this generation of so much more influences.

Whether you agree or disagree with the Duggar family's lifestyle, one thing you must admit: they live out what they talk about. The four oldest Duggar daughters were receiving so many letters from young girls and young women about the same things that they chose to put their personal responses together in book format. "Growing Up Duggar" isn't as much a memoir as it is some sound advice from four older sisters. Each of the Duggar girls shares her opinion about topics such as "your relationship with yourself", because if you can't get along with you...well, you get the idea. They also discuss relationships with parents, siblings, friends, boys, culture, citizenship and with the world at large. It's no surprise for fans of the television show, but all of the Duggars have huge hearts for world missions, and that is evident in the final chapter of the book. The advice they give is three-fold strong: they've lived it, they've gleaned it from God's Word, and it's easy to apply these principles to your life at any age. So, will we be hearing from the Duggar sons? That remains to be seen. I received my complimentary copy of "Growing Up Duggar" from Howard Publishing in exchange for an honest review. I highly recommend this book to moms and daughters, sisters and grandmothers, to all girls....get a group together and read it together!

This book is truly amazing. The four Duggar girls that wrote this did an amazing job. I thank them from the bottom of my heart. I haven't even finished the book yet and already I have learned so many different lessons. I have grown up in a family not much different from theirs, my parents have a lot of the same beliefs. (They just don't have 19 kids only four :)) All my life I have grown up with modesty and treating your parents as well as siblings with respect. We believe every word in the BibIe is true and follow Go's will acordingly. I really understand their point of veiw and how strong in the Lord you have to be in order to live in todays world. Its a lot of peer pressure to conform and do what you want and think that what God has in store for you is never going to get here. These girls have really pointed out some of my own faults and some of the things I need to work on for my own walk with God as well as life. I actually never have seen "19 and counting" cause like the Duggars my family and I haven't had a tv for the last 17 years. Which is long as been alive. And it has saved my family from a lot of heartache. But it was God. And to God I give all the glory, love, honor, and praise. Thanks Mom for getting me and Cami this book. And to the Duggar parents for raising such a godly family i hope one of these days i can do the same! And last of all..... to Jana, Jill, Jessa, and Jinger Duggar. Thanks girls for writing such an amazing book oon how to grow up in such a Godly way. Love Nichol M. Colorado P.s. i love your girls hair. Hope i get to meet you all someday.!

It's All About Relationships This is definitely a book for young women of faith.  I would like my granddaughters to read this book. Starting new relationships with the intent of marriage in the future is a an exciting yet difficult time for young women of faith.  Following the rules of parents and church is not always easy unless you have been raised with Christian values. The Duggar parents have not slacked on raising their children with Christian values.  The book is a short fast read but I suggest you slow down and enjoy the inspired advise and experiences offered by these lovely young women of faith. I highly recommend this book for young women.. Disclosure:  I received a free copy of this book from Howard Books/SimonSchuster for an hones review.

To whoever called these lovely young girls sluts is horrible. Maybe it is because you are so jelous of them and have zero to offer anyone. They speak from the heart they know how to love and share. I truly believe they are good and dont judge. Unlike you.

Don't believe the lies spread about the Duggar family. These girls were homeschooled and they are intelligent and wise beyond their years! This book is filled with great advice on how to manage relationships with family, friends, God, and more. I highly recommend it!
