This is a superb book for preparation for the SAT or for that matter for almost any exam. The strategies are fantastic and the basic material is laid out for all levels of student ability. What I partcularly liked is the diagnostic tests and the practice SAT tests where the answers are fully explained and keyed beautifully to strategies and basic skills. You also get complete refreshers in math, reading and grammar as well as shorter ones if you don't want to spend that much time reviewing. Everything is in this book. There were so many things I did not know or have not been taught and I found them in this book.

Checked out MANY SAT books at the library, and I found this, I realized there is NO COMPRABLE one out there, so I went online and bought it. The prefixes, roots, and suffixes alone give you the meaning of about 150,000 words, and the math "rules" and tricks are awesome. This is just the book I need for my 6th grader, who is taking the test this spring. (yep - just a few years early) If you can only buy just one book - THIS SHOULD BE IT! Where was this when I needed a study guide years ago??????
