As the High Priest of his clan, Priest has some of all the gifts his people control. After a showdown with his brother, he is left with a darkness that threatens to consume him. Struggling to rebuild his clan, the last thing on his mind is finding his mate. However, the moment he comes face to face with Kateri he recognizes her for what she is and he will do anything to make her his. Katy grew up without knowledge of her birth right. After the brutal death of her parents she learns of the mystical world that exists and is hers to one day accept or deny. She was raised to always take the path with the most logic. The decisions she has made for her life were compelled by not her own longing but that that had been forced upon her. Now she is faced with a decision to accept Priest as her mate as well as the magic that could be hers. I loved these characters so much! Priest is the perfect protective hero of not only his heroine but of his people. Even as he worries that his darkness will consume him he yields to the light that he finds with Katy. Katy had no reason to trust in this new world she had just learned of. It makes no sense even if she has seen it with her own eyes. Learning to accept it demanded acceptance of who and what she was and I enjoyed the journey she traveled to find her truth. This was a well written, fast paced read that has a little different slant on most shifter books I’ve read in the past. I enjoyed the world building as the author laid out layer upon layer of foundation for not only this story but for further books in this series. The characters are fully developed and secondary characters added to the overall depth of the story without stealing from the hero and heroine. The ending is a happy for now with a set up for the next couple. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by Netgalley and Carina Press. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Dual POV Safe – no ow/om drama No apparent triggers

Priest has many responsibilities in his life both as a tattoo artist and as the leader of his mystical clan. He looks like a rock star with long black hair flowing past his shoulders, beautiful and intricate tattoos, and a sexy and sensuous body that would make any woman deliriously happy. He has many clients who come to him for his original and detailed tattoos that he painstakingly applies with passion and reverence. He also uses his tattoo expertise to create designs that protect his clan members from the darkness that exists in his world. He has been alone for many years but he is still without someone to share it with; his one true mate. Once he found her he would protect her and keep her safe forever, always by his side. Kateri and her brother Alek were brought up with no knowledge of their magical powers but when tragedy struck their lives, their Aunt took them to see Priest for training and protection. Prior to this, she was pursuing a B.S. in Environmental Science where everything is scientific, logical and explainable. When she crossed the threshold into Priest’s tattoo shop she felt him before she saw him, and his commanding presence did not frighten her. She was actually fascinated by him and his intense, dark gaze had her wondering what he was thinking As they shook hands, time stood still and when she accidentally touched his chest, a purring sound rolled up through his body. Kateri had no idea how to react to what had just happened and as she was led away by her brother, Priest, whose eyes were locked on her growled, “She’s mine.” Will Priest be strong enough to extinguish the darkness that lurks in his soul? And can he keep Kateri safe from the evil that is coming their way? How will Kateri respond to Priest’s affirmation of possession? Will she return his feelings and accept what comes with her new life? Rhenna Morgan has given us another winner in “Guardian’s Bond,” the first book in her new Ancient Ink series. Priest is an alpha warrior who is fighting for the survival of his clan while searching for his soulmate, who he found in Kateri. As with all of Rhenna’s books, it is necessary to read every word, sentence and paragraph to fully appreciate her brilliant writing style. I am eagerly anticipating the next book in the series, “Healer’s Need.”

This is going to be one of several review redo's for me today. Cross your fingers I don't forget all of the good stuff I wanted to share! Let's see, what all did I want to say about this brand new series. Oh yeah, yep! Sign Me up! My love of PNR is well known by just looking at my library shelves, but this story has it all, especially Priest. Dear Lord does it ever. I know I just got a new computer for my birthday, but can I have a Priest too, please? Confident, sexy, all alpha male. The kind to drive you crazy, but in a good way. Kateri too is an interesting character. She is strong-willed, beautiful and I wanted to hate her. I just couldn't. I mean I can, but I don't. She comes into the story not knowing the things Priest does about their history, but acclimates quickly while not losing who she is fundamentally. How many of us can claim the same? Morgan has definitely won me over with the way she has introduced this series, this world building. I wasn't the least bit bored and stayed up late into the night because I just had to know what happened next. (Even lost files can't make me forget that!) I'm already planning my trip to B&N or my favorite box reseller to purchase the paperback version for the library! Oh honey! I think I need a new bookshelf! This ARC was received by the publisher via Netgalley for an honest review.

Not a lot of action for me.

This one didn't work for me unfortunately. The 1st few chapters were interesting, but then between 50-60% I wanted to dnf, but I ended up skimming some. After 76% nothing was really happening! This story moved so slow. While the characters where developed enough, the story as a whole, wasn't enough to keep me enticed. Some major events should have happened already by then, and they didn't.

I love Rhenna Morgan's writing style and boy, she didn't disappoint with this first book in a new series. Priest has always known he was a shifter and high priest for his clan, leader of his people. He is ideally suited for the role. Katie has never had an inkling that she might be more than a mortal woman, so imagine her surprise and resistance to the idea that she might have some exceptional powers, comes from a powerful family who shunned their gifts, and a soul mate she's only just met. Really, all she wants to do is find the evil person who murdered her family. All Priest wants is for Katie to accept her gifts, and him. Their relationship isn't easy, and Priest has his work cut out for him getting Katie to accept all that she is. To accept him. I loved the retelling of her journey to accept what is her birthright. Morgan has done an incredible job building this world and introducing us to the characters we'll come to love and learn more about in future books. I so enjoyed this book, I found myself missing the character once I finished the book. I am eagerly anticipating the next installment of the Ancient Ink series.

Guardian's Bond is the first in a new series from Haven Brotherhood author, Rhenna Morgan. It's a delicious fantasy romance with a unique storyline and impressive set of characters! Priest Rahandras creates beautiful tattoos, and for the people under his protection, those tattoos are inked with a piece of his power as High Priest of the Vol án. The clan is in disarray because of a tragedy that centered around Priest's brother betraying the clan. Fifty years later, some of his people are denying their heritage and keeping their offspring in the dark. Such is the case with Kateri and her brother Alek. The two are forced into the world when their parents are viciously killed and their grandmother, Naomi, had no choice but to let them in on the hidden world. Guardian's Bond starts off in the most spectacular way. The very first chapter, when Kateri and Priest meet, sets the tone for the novel. It's the start of a cat and mouse game as Kateri's logic fails to allow her to believe in her heritage and the possibility that she and Priest were made for each other. As Kateri and her brother are exposed to the clan we get to see the extent of Draven's evil and how it hasn't completely stopped the Volán from thriving in modern times. But the threat is lurking on every page. That undeniable sense of the other shoe dropping lingers behind every step Kateri and Priest make toward each other. As the chapters flew by, because yes I was reading like a maniac, I kept wondering when everything was going to crash around their heads. When it did, it happened unexpectedly and definitely not in the way I imagined. Either way, I'm hooked because there is no way I can walk away from this series without knowing what's next! I expected the big showdown against Draven would happen sooner than it did, but the anticipation just made me read faster! The action, red-hot romance, and world-building of Guardian's Bond just screams for your attention! The Ancient Ink series is definitely one to get hooked on now! *ARC provided in consideration for review*

For decades, he’s been alone. Now, she’s here. His fated mate. His to win. To protect. To provide for and pleasure. Priest Rahandras has lived with the darkness trapped inside himself for years. Betrayed by his own brother and forced to watch his clan’s brutal annihilation, the only thing Priest wants more than to escape the curse that haunts him—as both man and beast—is to rebuild. Until the mate he’s longed for walks into his life with an elder from his past. She’s everything he’s wished for, and the key to the clan’s very survival. Kateri Falsen is a woman of logic and facts. While Priest’s cat can sense her arousal, telling her they’re fated won’t be enough. He’ll have to show her his love: with his words, with his actions, and with his body. Protecting Kateri from the evil trapped inside him is paramount. But when lost clan members are systematically murdered, he’ll have to choose between exposing his mate to his black magic, or risking her as the next victim. Review: This is the first in a new series and I have to say I really liked this and cannot wait to see what comes next. It gives a different little twist on shifters and shifter romances, which I think must be hard for an Author when there are so many other books of this type out there. The Author puts in so many interesting tidbit and twists to keep the story interesting and engaging. It was exciting and tension filled from the start. I loved Kateri and Priest are an superb couple. Even though priest knows right away what Kateri is to him it takes her a little while to come to grips with what she is and what she is to Priest. They end up making a united and formidable couple. The tension and mystery around Priest's brother was well-done also and adds excellent drama to the story and plot point. Great start to this exciting and sexy series! I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series. 4.5Stars *I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book provided by the publisher.*

This was an awesome introduction to a new series! I loved the details, all the different dynamics, and this excellent story of Priest and Kateri coming together. A truly great read! I really liked Priest, his pull towards Kateri, and this captivating alpha presence he had. He oozed sexiness and power. Kateri I liked a lot. I loved watching her discover new things and fight her feelings against all the changes happening. It made for a great push and pull between the two. Together they were challenging and playful and really entertaining. I thought they had great chemistry and heat, there is definitely a good amount of hotness for sure. I loved learning all the ins and outs of their world even though it was a lot to take in at the start. After it was laid out and I had the gist of everything, I was all in. There's a good cast of characters introduced and really like the different connections. It's a really intriguing, well thought out world and I enjoyed learning all the ends and outs of how everything works, the shifter element involved, and all the different rolls that people play. The couple coming together are the main focus but there's a nice bit of underlying drama happening as well. I thought there was a really good build to the action and I liked the intensity of it. I assume this is something that will play out over the course of the series. Overall I thought this was great and I found it exciting to read. There was a lot to learn but I really like the building world presented, all the different shifter things happening, and how everything ties together. I also loved the growth both the main characters experienced as they came together. I'm ready for more! Complimentary copy received for honest review.

Guardian’s Bond is book one in Rhenna Morgan’s brand new series, Ancient Ink. I’ve loved everything I’ve read of Rhenna’s and have been so excited about this new series. It proved to be well worth the wait. I feel like it’s primarily a romance, steeped with ancient traditions and erotic dreams. But there is also darkness in this world she has created. Darkness only Priest can triumph over. “Safe with the Keeper. Guarded from the dark.” Eerikki Rahandras has been known as Priest since he relocated to Eureka Springs. He lives here as a tattoo artist along with his two wards, Jade Mitchell and Tate Allen. Priest, Jade and Tate are all Volan, and Priest is actually the High Priest of their kind. When Volan reach a certain age, they are called to their spirit quest where, if they choose to accept their gifts, they are assigned a companion, an animal that lives within them which they can shift to whenever they want or need to. Priest’s companion is a panther. Many years before, Priest’s brother, Draven, chose dark powers over the light. He was trying to absorb all of the powers of his clan by killing them off. When Priest and Draven fought, Priest killed his brother. But in the process, he absorbed some of his darkness which now lives within him and battles his own light. Priest is shocked and thrilled to be visited by a long lost member of his clan. But it’s her granddaughter that tilts Priest’s world off it’s axis. His reaction is immediate, his knowledge of who this woman is to him. His mate, the woman specifically made for him to be at his side. But in their culture, the male is the only one that has this immediate response. It is his duty to woo his mate, to win her heart so that she will except his bond. He’s going to have his work cut out for him with this woman. “You belong to me.” “Of all the people who walk this Earth, there is no one safer than you.” Kateri Falsen knew nothing of this unbelievable world her grandmother had filled her head with during the last two weeks. Kateri is a scientist, she sees logic, black and white. But two weeks ago, she and her brother’s parents were brutally murdered and an ancient weapon was left behind as a calling card. Kateri is told that her parents were also Volan but her father had refused his gifts and prohibited anyone sharing any of their heritage with his two children. So now it all comes as a shock to them. Her brother Alek seems to be accepting it much easier than she is. Then there is Priest. She is afraid of him and drawn to him at the same time. When he shifted to his panther for her, she wasn’t afraid at all, she felt more comfortable with his panther than with the man himself. “A hunter. A warrior. A protector. And he was hers. Every dark, deliciously muscled inch of him.” The weapon that was left behind at her parent’s murder was evidence that Priest’s brother was not dead after all. Now that Priest had found his mate, it put her in more danger than anyone else. It would be the perfect way to get to Priest, by killing his mate. “I knew you were my light. But I didn’t realize you’d be my redemption too.” This was such a different and beautiful take on shapeshifters. I love that every clan member was a different animal. As I said earlier, the book is primarily Priest and Kateri’s love story. Kateri had so much thrown at her so fast. I loved watching her accept and grow within this new world. She was so strong.

The storyline was exciting, filled with intrigued and unique. Another outstanding writing job by Author Rhenna Morgan as she continues her descriptive thought provoking writing in this new series starting out with an intriguing beginning in Priest’s tattoo shop. I was mesmerized by how Priest used protective words on tattoos for protection creating a feeling of mysticism that drew me quickly into the plot. Of course, the crazy weird meeting between him and the three strangers who came into his shop was priceless and started the book out with intense heat. Priest’s protective mode though it could have been stifling for most people was handled in a manner that made it not demeaning or over aggressive. There is something enduring about how Priest wants to protect those he loves or cares about. Furthermore, his character balances this personality trait with kindness and instruction allowing the people to grow, be strong and not shirk responsibilities or decisions. Having read many books by this author I find she does a super job of keeping the reader on the edge of your seat while your mind tries to keep ahead of what is going on with the plot, so you can to solve the mystery. I give it 5 STARS and I recommend everybody to read it.

Guardian’s Bond by Rhenna Morgan is the 1st book in her new Ancient Ink paranormal romance series. Since I love Rhenna Morgan’s stories, I looked forward to reading this new series. Guardian’s Bond turned out to be an exciting, intense, and sexy start. Priest is a panther shifter, and the leader of his clan. He is the High Priest who goes to the otherworld to help new members meet the Keeper, and as they go through their soul quest (find their companion and shift). Priest has lived much of his life in darkness, having lost his family to his evil brother, whom he thought was dead; but despite the darkness for him and his cat, Priest is still a good guy, who takes care of his pack. When he has just about given up on finding a mate, he meets a powerful young girl, who has no idea about what she truly is. Kateri (Katy) arrives at Priest’s tattoo parlor, with her brother Alek and Naomi (Nana), and both her and her brother will learn everything there is to know. They have both been sheltered from their mother and father, who never told them about their heritage. When she meets Priest, Katy can feel the bond between her and Priest, but her fears of the unknown will make her difficult to deal with, and distrustful of Priest. But the pull of the mating bond will in time change everything, and she will slowly open herself to Priest. Priest first has to train both ALek and Katy how to fight and be ready for their soul quest. Kateri wants to know everything, as she has always been about learning, knowing the facts and finding the reality of what she thought was just fairytales. What follows is an exciting adventure that will bring them all in danger, especially when the evil brother returns to try to control the pack and kill Priest. What I loved was seeing Katy get through her soul quest, and find a companion that is equal to Priest’s Black Panther; her new found powers will also be instrumental in saving them against such powerful evil. The romance between Priest and Katy was very steamy, with some very graphic sex scenes. Morgan has created a great group of secondary characters, such as Tate, Jade, Alek, Naomi, whom I hope we will get future books on. I do not want to give spoilers, but I will say that Guardian’s Bond was an exciting, fun and sexy story that was very well written by Rhenna Morgan. If you love Paranormal romance, scorching couple, great secondary characters and excellent story line, I suggest you start this series.

Guardian’s Bond by Rhenna Morgan Paranormal romance that is not the same old same old…nope…this one has the themes of many but is also different. With quests to be made, soul mates to be wooed, evil to thwart and magic aplenty this steamy story kept me reading and left me eager to read the next book in the series when it comes out. Priest knows who he is and does his job well. He is there for those under his care and never misses a quest. He also knows that Kateri is his mate as soon as he sees her…wooing her is something he does and does well (fanning myself). Kateri and her brother Alek may be skeptical of magic and the idea of another group of people that they could become part of but soon their skepticism becomes belief and they are all in. This was a delightful tale that hooked me quickly and kept me engaged. I loved all the alpha males and the strong women. I loved the way shifter aspects of a person were revealed and am eager to find out more about the backstory, mythology and how this story will unfold so that good can thwart evil. Thank you to NetGalley, Carina and Barclay Publicity for the ARC – This is my honest review. 4.5 Stars

Rhenna Morgan has taken quite a unique take on a shifter series. In fact, it doesn't even feel like a shifter series. It's so much more. The descendants of the clan have an option of accepting their destiny or refuse it and remain a singura, a human. They go on a quest where the keeper will offer them their companion and the magic that best suits them and signifies their clan house. Eerikki, known as Priest since he was chosen as the High Priest by the keeper, is the hero in book 1. He is the one who guides the clan. He goes on the quests with them and trains them. Kateri, known as Katy is the heroine and Priest's mate. She and her brother were not raised on the knowledge of the clan. Her father refused his quest and raised them as singura. when he and their mother were brutally murdered, their Nanna explained to them their heritage and brings them to Priest. Draven is Priest's brother and the evil villain of the story. The keeper saw a darkness in Draven and gave the High Priest to Eerekki and ultimately what pushes Draven to attack the clan. There is a lot to learn in this first book but it's not difficult to keep up. I love that this is so different from what I've read in a shifter series before. They do have mates in this series and it's instantly known by the male but not by the female. They have to earn their love and trust to accept the bond to form. It's the best of both worlds. You have instant love but a slow burn love as well. Priest was a calm presence for an alpha persona. He was patient and protective but his possessiveness reared it's ugly head when provoked. Katy's father squelched her open mind when she was young and molded her into a scientific mind. Despite seeing the truth to this new knowledge, she still struggles to let go and accept. Priest is determined to keep her hidden from his brother but she is ultimately what he needs to beat back the darkness. I'm excited to see where the author will take us with this journey. There are so many possibilities and I look forward to the next book. ARC provided by NetGalley.
