I was broken, numb to want and desire, but then he came along...
Three years after the tragic events of Anna’s sixteenth birthday which saw her boyfriend killed and her kidnapped by his sadistic murderer, she’s no longer the happy-go-lucky girl that everyone used to know and love; she’s now cold, hard and suffers from night terrors.
Carter is currently serving time for the murder of Jack–a conviction that Anna helped secure–but his retrial is coming up because some key evidence appears to have been tampered with.
Needing to ensure his daughter’s safety, presidential candidate, Senator Spencer, tasks in Ashton Taylor, a newly qualified SWAT agent, to guard the broken girl and keep her safe until the end of the trial.
For three years Anna has refused to feel emotion or pain. Can Ashton help her rebuild her life and finally deal with the grief of losing her childhood sweetheart? Will he be the one to make her see that life is, in fact, worth living and that not all men will hurt her?
Author's note: Part 1 and 2 were previously published in 2013 as one novel of epic proportion. Nothing Left to Lose was a runaway bestseller that had people all over the world falling in love with Agent Ashton Taylor. Now split into two full-length, more manageable novels and with beautiful new covers, you can fall in love with Anna and Ashton all over again or witness their heart wrenching journey for the first time. Part 2 (Blurring the Lines) is a direct continuation of this novel.
About the Author
Kirsty Moseley has always been a passionate reader since she was a little girl, devouring books overnight, barely sleeping and paying for it at school the next day. Writing has come similarly to her and once she discovered Wattpad, she finally plucked up the courage to post one of her stories. Seven million reads later, she self-published her debut novel THE BOY WHO SNEAKS IN MY BEDROOM WINDOW, which later became one of 10 Finalists for the 2012 Goodreads' Choice Awards, Best YA Fiction. Shocked and overwhelmed by the response, she published her second novel a few months later and hasn't looked back. If she had to sum herself up in one word, it would probably be 'daydreamer' - but unlike most of her school teachers, she doesn't necessarily view that as a bad thing. After all, she read somewhere once that books are like waking dreams.... She lives in Norfolk, England with her husband and son. Visit her website at http://www.kirstymoseley.com/ for more!

This book is quite possibly my favourite Kirsty Moseley book to date, a rerelease of Nothing left to lose, split into two full length novels. Part 1, Guarding the Broken introduces us to Annabelle Spencer as she celebrates her 16th birthday with her boyfriend Jack. In a devastatingly disturbing turn of events her life is turned upside down and over 3 years later Annabelle is still left broken. With a threat to her life still possible, and as the senator’s daughter she has an armed guard with her at all times. Not that she wants a guard, her attitude and behaviour mean that none of her guards gave lasted very long, that is until Ashton Taylor, once Ashton enters her life, everything changes. A wonderfully tragic story of love, lust and complete and utter heartache. I loved Ashton with a passion, he is hands down one of my favourite book boyfriends, ever. Annabelle was a perfect match for him, I just wished she would let him into her heart completely. Book 2 here I come.
Oh man, this book. Talk about such a heartbreaking journey that these characters go through. Kirsty did such an amazing job conveying the emotions that both of these characters are going through but especially Annabelle. Annabelle has been through more than anyone should since she was 16 and it has irrevocably changed her life since. Her heart is so big and it has been filled with so much love and guilt for Jack that there isn't any room for anyone else. She isn't about to open herself up to anyone and subject herself to the feeling of lose again. Annabelle is going to have a fight on her hands because Ashton is a forced to be reckoned with and he could be the best thing that has ever happened to her if she would just open herself up to him. Will she be able to overcome some of her past trauma? Will she open herself up to anyone? Will she share the secrets she keeps inside herself? I highly recommend this book and I can't wait for the next in this series!
