K-Gr 2-In these titles, readers are presented with clues about a particular animal's physical characteristics, behavior, and habitat, and then asked to identify the creature in question. Changes introduces a butterfly, Grabs presents an octopus, and Hides focuses on a turtle. Two or three facts about the creature face a full-color photograph that illustrates the information. These images do not give away the animal's identity, as they are generally close-ups of particular body parts. The language is simple and clear, and each title contains one "Challenge Word" that is defined at the end. The easy texts, beautiful photos, and open format make these solid additions to natural science and early-reader sections.-Jean Lowery, Bishop Woods Elementary School, New Haven, CT Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information.
