What a book! You must read this book. I always liked Marcia Clark so when I saw this book on the B&N Store Bookshelf,I took a chance and what a happy choice this was. From the first chapter she draws you in and doesn't let go until the end. As well as a great and suspenseful story line, her characters are so likeable and engaging. Get this book, your favorite lounge chair, your favorits snack and drink and enjoy the ride. Kudos Marcia! This book is a winner.

Deputy District Attorney Rachel Knight is a workaholic who handles high-profile cases in the Special Trials Division of the District Attorney's office. She knows how to play every angle to make sure the criminals get punished and the victims have closure. When another DA in her office is murdered in an unsavory crime Rachel starts to realize she was friends with this man, but did she really know him? Going on her gut instinct that all this may look bad for her co-worker, but not everything is as it seems she is determined to solve the crime even after she is told "hands off". Rachel is pulled into another crime that has a high profile father with ties to the political powers that be and while she is not thrilled to own this she does the right thing and works it because the victim, a young girl deserves justice. The more time she spends investigating both cases the more nothing seems right with either of them. There are suspects all over the place that have no motive and other people she wants to interview that Rachel can't find. Someone is taking pot shots at her and wants this all to go away but which case is upsetting someone? Rachel keeps hitting walls that have been constructed to stop her from digging too deep but kicking barriers down is what she does before breakfast especially for someone she cares about. With her friends and co-workers digging in deep to help her solve this case Rachel may find herself chasing herself into the ground but a good martini might help her resolve anything, well that and a descent night's sleep. Marcia Clark has seen all sides of the legal system and I believe in this book she captures the good, bad and awful with all of it. The story is fresh and the dynamics with the characters completely is believable and interesting to watch it being played out.

As a member of the elite Special Trials division, Los Angeles DA Rachel Knight was accustomed to investigating and prosecuting high profile cases. When a close associate and fellow prosecutor within their division is found dead, she simply cannot believe that the obvious explanation of a murder/suicide is accurate. Convinced that Jake was not a pedophile, did not commit suicide or murder, with the help of her friend Detective Bailey Keller, Rachel risks her job and her life to covertly find the answer to Jake's death. I was looking forward to a great legal mystery with some courtroom drama. This book did not live up to my expectations. The plot itself is interesting but it read more like a TV drama and not a very good one. I did enjoy reading about a DA's involvement in investigating and prosecuting cases. Sadly, that was largely overshadowed by Clark spending too much time describing the room, the person's clothes all the meals, alcoholic drinks and designer labels we were forced to endure. By the time Clark gets to the real story Guilt by Associations is disjointed and does not flow. I love a good mystery romance that leaves me guessing until the end but Guilt by Association was not one of the books that I would recommend. I received a copy of eBook from Net Galley and Publisher Mulholland Books for my review.

This is the second novel I have read by this author and I actually want to read more from this author. It starts out slow but a slow that keeps your interest and builds and then hits you. The kind of hit you that keep your interest in you can’t wait to turn the next page. I like the details as it builds the story. Details about the players helps in explaining the relationships professional or personal. Worth my time and money…great read!

I have read Guilt by Association twice. The first time, I was finished in a day because I needed to finish the story and see what happened. The second read had me looking at settings, dilogue and charactor development and it was all good. Marcia has created a female figure to be relied on. Her friends are hers to be cared for and defended if necessary. I am the typical reader for this genre and I found this to be a great read. Rachel, Toni and Bailey are people I would like to know better. As a new writer in this genre, Marcia has hit a homerun and if you are pick up a book, what more can you ask for; charactors that you want to learn more about and a story that holds you. Guilt by Association delivers on all fronts. Have a good read.

this book did not hold my interest. I kept skipping ahead trying to get to the 'meat' of the plot

Was the main character a lawyer? The only time she was in court was to drool over a police detecive. She was, however, expert at locating restaurants and could explain in great detail the items on the menu in each place. Did I miss something: Who is Romy? That being said, I was looking for a good book that had very good reviews. I would not recommend this book for numerous reasons including poor character development, unrealistic and unbelievable story line, and predictable conclusion. With that being said, I will not be purchasing the next book. Sorry, Ms Clark, job not well done.

What a surprise! I didn’t know what to expect from Marcia Clark’s (yes, “that” Marcia Clark) first novel. But I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did. There’s a good mystery. There are likable characters. There’s fun, snarky, and self-deprecating humor. There’s very little actual courtroom drama, everything happens outside the courtroom in this book. I thoroughly enjoyed this read, and when I finished it, I moved right on to the next one, which is a rarity for me. I combined reading with listening to the audiobook, which is narrated extremely well by January Lavoy. I highly recommend this one for anyone who enjoys legal thrillers. Copy provided by Netgalley and Mulholland Books in exchange for an unbiased review.

I was not sure what to expect when I started reading Guilt By Association. My memories of Marcia Clark extended solely as the prosecutor on the O.J. Simpson murder trial. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the writing, the vibrant characters and the intriguing story. I liked Rachel and Bailey immediately. Their friendship and working partnership is intermixed with snark, sarcasm and humor as they work to solve the mysterious death of their friend and colleague, Jake. Ms. Clark does a brilliant job of weaving an intricate plot that held my interest while making the events relevant to the plot and not overly obvious so the end still held an element of surprise. The characters are easy to relate to and brought to life so realistically, the reader gets a sense of being around them and interacting with them. My Final Verdict: Guilt By Association is my first Marcia Clark novel but it won’t be my last. I am looking forward to reading more by this talented author and getting to know Rachel and her friends better. I highly recommend this story to anyone who enjoys thrillers and mysteries without taking the drama too seriously while enjoying some humor mixed in.

I received an email from NetGalley asking if I'd be interested in reviewing a series by Marcia Clark. At the time, I must be honest and admit, that I didn't realize that Marcia Clark was the Prosecutor in the O.J. Simpson murder trial. I was relatively young while all that was going on, so it wasn't something that would stand out in my head. So when I read the Synopsis, I was thrilled to take this series on and review them! Let me just say that I love the character Rachel Knight! She is incredibly intelligent and witty, quick on her feet, not scared of anything, ready to go get anyone who gets in her way! I really think she's a one-of-a-kind, perfect character that I just can't get enough of! I love reading her and her antics, and contrary to the complaints of other reviewers, I thoroughly enjoy hearing about what she is wearing or eating that day! That girl can put some food down! This was my first Marcia Clark read, and absolutely won't be my last! I will delightfully and gleefully finish this series! I love the extreme in depth, and overly descriptive method of Clark's writing and certainly appreciate her explanation of things that non-lawyers may not already know! I listened to this book while following along with the e-book and I must say that January LaVoy is a true professional narrator. She is one of those narrator's that you'll buy a book just because she is the one reading it to you! I look forward to listening to more of her works! Overall, I really loved this story and can't wait to see what Rachel Knight has in store for us in Guilt by Degrees!! I actually have to admit that I originally rated this book a 4 of 5 stars, and after re-reading my review and the delightful feelings I have just thinking back on the story, I had to change my review to 5 of 5 stars! Thank you NetGalley for sharing this awesome new series with me!

I just want to tell this author i stopped wanting to read the story by page 9 when it became clear the plot would center around another mommy hater. There is an obvious agenda in writing fiction today and i for one am sick of it....bashing women making them the villains but never men or fathers. Sooo typical and obviously a slanted agenda. Wont buy this book.

For those of us who enjoy a good suspense thriller I have to tell you that Marcia Clark is another author to check out. “Guilt by Association: A Rachel Knight Novel” was published by Mulholland Books This was my first book of hers that I have read and the name was vaguely familiar to me in some dark recess of my mind. When it finally dawned on me who she was, I still hesitate to read the book. I mean here I thought she was just another lawyer hoping to write a book and publishing it on just the grounds of her name. Seriously I have read lawyer-turns-writer and found them ummmm… how to put this politely… wanting. This time I have to admit Marcia did use her knowledge for law and law enforcement with a pleasant twist. I actually enjoyed the book and was surprised that I finished it. The development of the characters and plot line was well done with out feeling like I was trying to trudge through the La Brea tar pits over the details. I look forward to reading more of Rachel Knight in the near future. I think this book easily rates a 4 out 5 stars. Please note that I got this ARC from the publisher through Net Gallery for free in return for my honest opinion of the book and has no effect anyone connected with the making of the book
