Gumdrop City is a True Crime story that has been fictionalized, mostly the story about the protagonist. More or less how the end scene comes to be, is true, although in reality the police were involved. The "room" is true though the rest of the house was fictionalized. This is one of my cover artist's favorite of all of my stories. This story is also included in my collection of short stories, Anthology of Evil.

I have a B.A. in Psychology and for many years I was a Sr. Technical Writer. But there isn't much character or story development in that career and certainly no punch at the end, so I've mostly given up non-fiction (except for my blog at Murdockinations.com).
