About the Author

Tandieka Stephens DeClemente (1983-2021) was born in Guyana, and one of nine siblings.
After graduating from the prestigious Bishops’ High School, she went onto the University of Guyana to earn a Bachelor's degree in International Relations.
That led her to becoming a teacher at the Brickdam Secondary School.
Moving on to the next career, she was the co-host of First Look, a popular Guyanese morning show, and then working for Tagman Advertising and Digicel, in marketing and advertising. She also volunteered time on Sunday to tutor children in the surrounding communities.
Moving to America she earned two Master's degrees at Kean and Pace Universities. While attending Pace, she hosted a weekly radio show, The International Experience with Tandieka, in which international students would come on, and share their experiences in their new home, and also their culture. She restarted her show as a podcast, which is still online.
Tandieka will always be remembered among family and friends, as outgoing, loving, and nurturing. A soul gone to soon, in a world that needed someone with her bright smile and intoxicating laughter. She will be greatly missed, but she will thankfully live on to the delight of her family and friends, and will continue to teach and nurture generations to come!
She is survived by her husband, son, mother, and siblings.
