Where to start, where to start... I loved this book. I think I enjoyed it more than most other YA since it wasn't written in 3rd person, or by the girl's pov it was written entirely from the male perspective. If there are other books in this genre out there written in the male pov, I haven't seen them and there need to be more. It was a refreshing twist to see the world through the boy's eyes. This story, like all of Jaz's works thus far that I've read, is well written. You easily fall into the world he creates for his characters and heave a sorrowful sigh when you have to return to reality. All I have to say really is Chewie is the man! Sorta. This book will amaze and entertain fans of the genre young and old. Seriously...what's not to love about this book?!? It's unlike any other I've read so far! Jaz is amazing at balancing action, fun, love, surprise, laughs, & mystery! If you're looking for something completely different & exciting this would be for you! Truly terrific! It was so not what I expected (in a good way)! Not to mention a gorgeous cover!!!! Scott Blackstone is just a normal teen trying to deal with what life throws at him....or is he??? I'd say most certainly not! This is one outstanding mature young man who refuses to let the craziness around him decide his final outcome! His POV made for a wonderful story! He's uprooted to a new home, new school, new town where he finds much more than he ever expected proving that life is indeed fickle! :) There are lots of great characters throughout the story, but I really liked Gwen & her Mom too! They are sure to have more awesome stories to come! ;•) I look forward to reading more soon!

Reads more like a grade school intro to fantasy. The characters weren't consistent and the exposition is uneven. There is potential, but it isn't realized here.

This is a good story centered around Scott and Gwen. Scott moves with his parents to Custer North Dakota, he is starting his junior year and is not happy about the move. After his grandmother dies, his father inherits the family grocery store and convenience store. As his father says, everyone needs groceries and gas. He sees Gwen by the lake and he has to meet her. When he sees her at the local bakery, she is closed off and doesn't want to be bothered. He breaks through some of her walls and realizes he is starting to feel something for her. Gwen is having a hard time, after her father and younger brother die in an auto accident and she blames herself. In a small town where everyone knows everyone, Gwen is always the talk of the town. Will Scott learn the truth and will he accept it? Can Gwen accept the past and let Scott in? I loved how this was in Scott's POV. This is the first book for me by Jaz Primo and I will be reading more from him.

I like Jaz Primo's gender reversal wherein a budding teen romance is played out from the male's POV. I'm hoping this kind of writing becomes more popular, allowing young men to better connect with and express their feelings about girls and young women.

I fell in love with this story right away! It’s not often you get a story told from the male POV. Jaz managed to not only pull it off but got me hooked and begging for more! I loved watching each character struggle with their own insecurities and trying to get past their internal demons. The progression of the story was constant and the descriptions were spot on. I felt like I was there seeing exactly what the characters were experiencing! The relationship between Gwen and Scott is pretty much spot on in how they typically advance in high school and I adore both of them just as they are! I really hope there is a book 2 coming soon because I loved this one so much!

I was given a copy of Gwen Reaper for my granddaughters. The older of the two (both are 10, six months apart) read it and loved it. She says that she was interested in it all the way through, there wasn't a lot of "romance stuff" and more story, which was good. And she said she would love to read another book by the author.
