Ronna Mae Morgan, granddaughter of sharecroppers, has plunged into the world where her mother grew up in rural North Carolina. As the unexpected owner of Pettigrew Farm, where five generations of ancestors are buried in the side yard, Ronna's whole life has taken a sudden turn.
