Every werewolf knows the meek don't inherit the earth.

Fen Young is a half-shifter whose inner beast is more mouse than wolf. Home is her castle, the only place she's ever felt safe.

Enter Hunter Green, an uber-alpha strong enough to stop traffic with a single look. He's handsome and enticing and seems like just the ticket to broaden Fen's horizons...until the uber-alpha brushes off his admirer and summarily rejects her from her home pack.

Now treading water in the no-man's land of outpack territory, Fen must confront a missing pack mate, a tantalizing stranger, and a serial killer targeting half-werewolves. Will she be able to shore up her waning power in time to save her friend...and half-breeds everywhere...before it's too late?

From the USA Today bestselling author that readers are comparing to Patricia Briggs comes a new urban fantasy novel full of adventure, romance, and danger that will leave readers craving more.

About the Author

Aimee Easterling is a USA Today Bestselling author writing on the boundary between urban fantasy and paranormal romance. She specializes in spunky shifters and invites you to dive into her werewolf world in the Wolf Rampant trilogy and the spinoff Bloodling serial. Her upcoming novel, Half Wolf, begins a new series and is due to launch in March 2016.

Studying biology and working as a naturalist have both informed Aimee's writing, but she's quite willing to let reality slide in favor of a good story. Really enjoyed this book of a bunch of misfit werewolves...oops! 1/2 werewolves. Fen learns, while leading her pack, that the only way forward is to trust yr gut, walk through your fear and maybe, just maybe you'll achieve your goal. Good book, cool characters ...would recommend without hesitation. Definitely want to read sequels. ^-^

This was not the best shifter story I have read, but it is not the worst either. It was at least different from the normal wolf tale. I did enjoy the description of the show at the bar with the strip tease, although I am not sure what possessed Ginger to do this in such an obviously dangerous place. Fen may not be but half-wolf, but she knew what her duties as an alpha were. It would have been hard for her to suddenly have responsibility for other lives in a place where her heritage was such a handicap. I feel there could have been a little more background on her to make her easier to understand. I had to keep reminding myself that she was trying to do an Alpha's job with very few qualifications for the job. If she had trusted her wolf more she might have been better off, but apparently she had experience that this was not something she felt she could do. I did not like the constant repetition of "uber-alpha" and "troublesome twin" as another reviewer pointed out. I think is would be best to use the names instead of these constant descriptives. (And what the heck is an uber-alpha anyway? Does he drive for Uber? Just kidding.) That said, I would l like to read the next story and see how Fen and Hunter play out.

I started with Shiftless and after that I bought all in this series. Awesome to have actual stories, characters with development and depth , interplay, themes that are more than just sex and shredding (get boring after a while). Aimee Easterling shows thought and desire to make captivating reading.

I read a lot, basically a book every two days or so. I love supernatural books. I am a huge fan of werewolves/ shifters. So I was very excited to find a new author that write books in this genre. You never know exactly what new lore you will get in the new world. I was pleasantly surprised ro see the lore in this world is similar to most, but unique enough to be new and interesting. There are twists and turns in the drama that unfolds with this merry band of wolves!! Strong characters, both male and female make for an exciting cast. You can help but love them. Aimee Easterling creates a world that you don't want to leave. I was totally engrossed in the trails and tribulations of this little misfit pack. If you enjoy mystery's, and love the supernatural genre, then definitely give this world a try. I promise you won't be disappointed!!!

This is the first book following Fen who was a good character in the Rampant Wolf trilogy (Shiftless, Pack Princess and Alpha Ascendant). It would be possible to read this without having read the Rampant Wolf books but I think the background in them helps with Fen's story. If you enjoy a story with a feisty female lead who doesn't take herself too seriously which is written with a good sense of humour then I would definitely recommend.

Fen . . . Fen . . . Fen . . . swoosh went the sword that Wolfe gifted, now she must move on. Bloodlings, Halfies now pure breeds, together as one, watching, protecting devoted to each other. Enters a masculine domineering hulk of a man powers to stop you in place voted ‘nay or yay.’ Cowboy looks suave persona, voted ‘yay’ now things turn around and action begins. I was fooled and deceived which absolutely caught me by surprise. Halfies hunted and halfie she is, Fen will defend and others will too. Ginger is flippant funny, strong opinionated and soooooo promiscuous. Not what you think, okay maybe a little. I was floored by Ginger’s actions, I laughed so hard that it wasn’t funny, nah . . . it was and still is funny. Hunter caught on but Fen didn’t, still a low growl emitted the air. Oh, forgot to mention Glenn got me curious, low key but followed Fen to protect her, hmm . . . Aimee what about Glenn? The author wrote with such vigor of fluidity that each scene danced around my mind, either I was left laughing, or getting angry at Fen’s stupid ‘oops,’ I mean stupor wolf or angry at the other characters. I had to constrain myself from saying a lot of things , it will behoove you to get the book and read it for yourself. Intrigue holds the cards here and when it does show its hand, you will be stupefied like how I felt after reading this story. Did I like this story? You betcha, I was floored, I was entertained. Thank you to the author who provided me with a free digital download in exchange for an honest review and this is my honest review. Thank you, Darlene Cruz aka Liela

I found this book very entertaining and read it very quickly. The characters are well written and have grown and become more defined. The plot has lots of twists to keep you guessing. I'm looking forward to the next adventure with Fen and Hunter.

Good story. Fen was whiny and refused to see her wolf's strength and her own weakness. But with head held high, she tries her best to lead a small pack without relying on her wolf. There is a lot of action as things get difficult for them. Plus she tries to come to terms with her mate being who he is. The book was well written and am looking forward to see where Fen goes from here.

Half Wolf, Alpha Underground Trilogy Book 1 by Aimee Easterling is an fascinating paranormal book. I gave it five stars. The protagonist, Fen, is twenty-one with her wolf weak and is half-human. She has the right amount of snarkiness and spunk but is not a strong pack leader. "There had to be at least a hundred males in the room and most of them were almost certainly outpack werewolves with no clan--or woman--of their own. A lone female like me in a bar like this was akin to lighting a match beside a powder keg then standing there tapping my foot while wondering if anything would blow." Fen was a free pack leader of Ginger, a nineteen-year-old pack princess, her brother, Cinnamon and Lia. Ginger is a rebellious teenager out looking for trouble and finding it. Ginger and Cinnamon are called the "trouble twins". Fen inadvertently invited an uber-alpha into her pack. "'“Talk about what?' he asked. His voice was so deep it seemed to rumble through the air and into my belly like heavy bass, and I had to clench my jaw in order to ignore the tantalizing sensation." Fen's pack was deciding whether or not to allow Quill, the cowboy shifter to be on probation in their pack. Until Lia said no. "I slapped the guys down with my mild alpha dominance. “Stop it.” The words wouldn’t hold them in place like Hunter’s would have, but at least the bee-sting-level compulsion should snap my pack mates out of their posturing. Sure enough, Cinnamon and Glen both inhaled deeply, the former unhanding the kid and the latter merely pulling her in for a brief hug before letting her go as well." I received a complimentary copy from the author. That did not change my opinion for this review.

This story takes a look at the inner workings of a new pack formation. I enjoyed being exposed to the inner turmoil of the reluctant alpha. The emotions truly came through giving the main character life. This writer did an amazing job weaving these characters dilemmas and branded this book an easy page turner! I truly want to know more about Fen! A free copy of this book was given to me in exchange for an honest review.

The publisher's blurb was interesting, but it was also misleading. It assumed that the reader had read the previous series and had some idea of the background of the main character, Fen, a werewolf/human hybrid. I did not, and felt that there was not enough backstory woven into the tale. Besides that, it was a very active and compelling story with well developed characters and a lot of mystery/suspense. The strengths and weaknesses of the characters were excellently portrayed, and the plot twists were amazing!
