About the Author

Melissa Brodsky used to tell everyone she knew that she was going to be a writer when she grew up. She's currently working on that goal. Living in a modern-day "Yours, Mine and Ours" type household, Melissa is the biological mother of 3 and a full-time stepmother, as well. On some days, she may even be considered evil, and not just by her stepchildren. Most of the time, she is sitting at the kitchen table, poised over her computer while daydreaming up new plots for books. She blogs (on occasion) over at rockanddrool.com. She can be emailed at and hanging out on FB and Twitter for her social media company called Smart Savvy Social.

Since childhood, Nicole has been guilty of daydreaming a little too much. One of her favorite pastimes is staring into space, dreaming up stories, characters, lives, and dimensions when she really should be accomplishing other things. She parlayed her love of creating first into a career as a freelance writer and then into fiction writing. Her favorite genres are paranormal fiction and romance, followed closely by horror.

A long time Pennsylvanian, Nicole spends her days writing, soaking up books, teaching her five children how to be weird (in a good way), dancing for the endorphins and gardening.

We start off with 16 year old Gwen who is having these strange feelings and dreams. She went from being this normal teenager in high school to being thrust into a whole other world. She is not only learning more about her family, but the secrets that were kept from her all her life. Gwen has lived with her grandparents since she was two and has no memory of her parents. The only truth Gwen has ever know is what they have told her. But soon she learns of the lies and begins to wonder what else is being hidden from her. What happens when everything you know is gone? Gwen is trying to find herself when she is thrown into a world she never knew existed. When she is finally becoming comfortable with her new life a bombshell is dropped and she doesn't know what to believe. Do you trust your heart or head? Now I am all about the HOTT reads, but I love me some YA paranormal too! I needed a little break from the steam because they were all starting to seem the same. This was a nice refreshing break with a bad boy, a good boy, the evil girl, the best friend, and of course Gwen! Hallows Haven was so original and I couldn't put it down! It was soooo good and you find yourself falling in love with the characters. And if you're like me you try to talk some sense into them! I really wanted to shake the crap out of Gwen sometimes. You get thrust into the story pretty quick and its paced really smooth throughout, youre not getting bored between excitement. I was so engrossed I couldn't believe it was over when it was! I kept trying to flip the page on my kindle screaming NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!  Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! I couldn't believe it was over and I have to wait! I kinda knew something was going to happen because the book screamed it at me, but it still shocked me! Rating: 4 stars *** I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review ***
