About the Author
Robert Smith Surtees (1805–1864) was an English novelist and editor. His humorous pieces first appeared in New Sporting Magazine, which he helped found. These pieces were later published as Jorrocks’ Jaunts and Jollities and were so popular that Surtees published several more Jorricks novels, among other works.
