Fulfilling a book report assignment, I decided to read the book: 'The Hanged Man's Song', by John Sandford. Published in 2003 by the Penguin Group (USA) Incorporated, and illustrated by Lovedog Studio, this book takes the reader on a great adventure full of suspense, murders and action. John Sandford is a Crime Novelist extraordinaire, and makes this book a 'must read'. My assignment was to read a book by a Minnesota Author, which is how I came across John's name. The book starts off with an explosive introduction, with one of the main characters, Bobby, murdered. In the next few pages, the reader is introduced to some key characters, James Carp, Kidd (no last name), and LuEllen (Kidd's side kick). The setting of this adventurous book is in the heart of St. Paul, and also includes the settings of Washington D.C., Chicago, and some small named towns along the way. With the death of Bobby, Kidd must find the murderer, and save the lives of hundreds, along with his own; and uncover a mystery that the government is hiding. For a first read of Sandford¿s, I found this book to be a joy to read, and is only the beginning of the many books of Sandford's that will come after it. The only 'lull' in the book is a few scenes in hotel rooms, but (trust me) they add up in the end to a great ending to another honorable book written by Sandford. I would recommend this book to anyone, it is a good read, not too hard, and keeps your mind thinking along the way!

I have read and enjoyed all of John Sandford's books. Everytime he writes a new one, I have to have it. When I know he is about to publish another, I'm on pins and needles!

Perfectly paced. Older Sandford but still a page turner.

I am a long time John Sanford fan, and read everything he writes. I did enjoy this books twists, and it had a fair amount of suspense. Though I enjoy all of Sanfords books, I still prefer the "Prey" series to the Kidd series.
