Neil was born in 1945 in Brooklyn, NY, but a few years later his family relocated to the New Jersey shore, where he spent most of his childhood. He began his literary interest at the early age of 10 when he first discovered his passion for storytelling. Neil’s dedication to writing only grew stronger with time, becoming an integral part of his daily routine.
In 1962, Neil’s academic pursuits took him to Southern Illinois, where he attended the University and eventually settled in Carbondale after graduation. It was during this period that he honed his craft, culminating in the completion of his novel, ‘Har Megiddo’, in 1975. Having been encouraged by his friend John Gardner, the acclaimed novelist and university professor, Neil’s work caught the attention of esteemed editor and Russian literature translator, Michael Glenny. Their collaboration over a decade led to the completion of ‘Har Megiddo’ in 1975, and in 1983, his subsequent novel ‘Houses Without Porches’.
After a successful entrepreneurial venture with his wife and business partner, JanSuzanne Williams-Krasner, Neil transitioned to a life in South Florida where he continues to write.
The year 2020 marked a turning point as Neil shared his seminal work, ‘Har Megiddo’, with JanSuzanne, paving the way for its introduction to a wider audience. With a lifetime of experiences, travels, and accomplishments, Neil S. Krasner’s remarkable novel is now ready to be shared with the world, inviting readers to immerse themselves in his unique and captivating literary voice.
