This is a story told from Maddie Fitch's point of view. Maddie is a mystery novel writter living in LA. She comes to her home town in Maine to write a novel about a Non-Fiction mystery. She wanted to get to the bottom of a cold case file of a disaperance. Chelsea was a beautiful young girl that was engaged to be married to the town rich kid Adam Ward. Seeming to have everything everybody in the town wanted. Looks, wealth and Adam. No one could understand how one night she just up and disappeard. So Maddie takes on the case. She goes to stay on a isolated island owned by Adam Ward. Who just happens to be the prime suspect in the crime. When Maddie starts to dig into the bottom of the mystery, that has haunted the town for so long. It seems everyone turns into a suspect or has a reason to hate Chelsea. Adam and Maddie start up a romance that is knock your socks off hot. But has you wondering the whole time did he do it. The ending will blow you away! The writting in this novel sets you up big time. The chapter will end with cliffhangers and little hints. It will have you pulling out your hair and trying your hardest not to "cheat" and read the end.

Maddy, a mystery writer, goes back to her hometown to solve (and write about) the disappearance of Chelsea Hannigan and the prime suspect in that case, reclusive millionaire and Maddy’s crush, Adam Ward. I have a love dislike relationship with this book. I love the mixture of romance and mystery. I even love the remote setting on a private island in Maine. But I dislike the decisions made by the main character Maddy. She frustrated me from the beginning. Maddy starts out by “telling” us that she is investigating the Harbour Falls Mystery in secret, then proceeds to ask fifty million questions which make it obvious that she is investigating the Harbour Falls Mystery. Maddy, the mystery writer, cannot figure out who the killer is even though all the clues point to this person. Instead she falls into a really clichéd trap and almost gets killed herself. S.R. Grey spends a lot of time building up the setting and fleshing out the backstory of all the inhabitants of Harbour Falls. As a result, I was pulled into the story. Grey did and even better job of making Maddy a real person. However, the mystery itself is thin and when it is finally unraveled, although not what I expected, it also wasn’t as explosive as the build up led me to believe. Unfortunately, the “mystery” really doesn’t end and Grey adds a twist by creating a cliff hanger ending. Again, Maddy instead of doing the logical thing prepares to solve another mystery based on clearly false information. Oh well, I’m prepared to follow Maddy through another   Reviewed by Karon for Cocktails and Books.

Ms. Grey pens "Harbour Falls" in a plot that is filled with steamy romance and suspense. The story line started slow, but picked up fast with it's twists and turns and made it harder to put down. Beware, there is a great cliffhanger at the end that will make you want the next book fast. This review is based on a complimentary copy from the author which was provided for an honest review.

Loved this book from the minute I started reading it. Loved that it was a mystery but had some romance in it as well. I really can't wait for the second book in this series to come out. I can't wait to find out how Maddy's and Adam's relationship turns out and what the next big mystery is!

A Must Read! Recommended by a friend, and I was hooked from the beginning. Dark and mysterious, from the setting to the gorgeous prime suspect, Adam Ward. It really turned out to be a page turner! I didn't know who to trust. Can't wait for the next book, Willow Point, and more Adam and Maddy.

Great easy read. Fell in love with fade island. Ready to move on to book 2 and 3.

I really enjoyed this book and the mystery in it. But I was a little disappointed with the graphic sexual content. I don't think it added anything to the story line and could have been done in a way that would leave a little to the imagination. I also read the next in the series and felt the story was also good but the author added even more sexual parts not needed for the story. I could watch porn if I wanted to be that explicit and it was done rudely. I am hopeful that the next will center on the characters and situations rather than what she licks on him and he does to her. I belong to a three and half year running book club with approximately 12 women ranging from 25 to 76, 3 several nurses, 3 career ladies 3 retired and one banker and 2 homemakers. We have read many different styles of writing. Please tell the author she has good story lines and doesn't need to turn to smut. Thank you

What a mystery! What a romance! Just what the doctor ordered to test my heart... Right away, you will fall in love with Maddy and Adam. She is a snoop and a gossip (for shame but it is quite interesting). He is the epitome high school boy crush grown into swooning gorgeous alpha male. Yeah! Remember that one guy in high school that you thought never knew you were alive? That's the one! The one you used to blush, stammer and would make you forget how to walk... and you never forgot him. Well, Maddy has come back to solve the mystery of what happened to Adam's fiancee the night before the wedding when she went missing; never to be seen again. The problem is that in order for her to get to the truth, she has to go and live on Fade Island... spooky in the Autumn months and owned by none other than Adam. She thinks she is pulling the wool over his eyes... but he is a genius and nothing gets by him. No matter what, Maddy wants to play it cool and search for the truth. I had to scream at her a couple of times ( maybe more) because it was obvious he was going to find out what she was doing and she was going to be in trouble. You will not be able to put this book down. Even though this is a self contained story, it does leave you thinking of other secrets that may not have been resolved. This will lead you straight into book #2. Believe me, you will want to read the entire trilogy. It is that good!

I am such a fan of this author's writing. She really writes beautifully. This romantic mystery was the best I've read this year. The foggy Maine island setting is simply the perfect backdrop for this story and was almost a character in the book. Author Maddy Fitch is doing research for a novel. The research takes her back to her hometown which is full of some very interesting and suspicious characters including the #1 hot suspect Adam. Their relationship is good yet complicated by Maddy's suspicions but that doesn't pour cold water on their sizzling love life. It's clear from the beginning than many people don't appreciate the fact that Maddy is investigating the disappearance of a woman from years ago. This is a very well plotted mystery that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to any romance fan!

This had it all, hot rich guy (Christian Grey move over), cute mystery writer girl, spooky isolated island and an ending where you have to read the next book immediately! I think it was a .99 cents bargain, will be reading more of her novels for sure!

I’m a sucker for a good mystery. Toss in a romance, and I’m golden. Make the protagonist an author who is delving into a real mystery much like she would craft her books – and that is a must read.  Although it starts a little slow,  the background provided helps to engage the reader into the mystery, and fix Maddy as a character worth knowing.  Confident and strong writing create a world that is familiar and yet lively, with a hauntingly intriguing mystery at the core.  With a cast of characters so complex and multi-layered, all with their own secrets and agendas, the mystery is truly one of the better ones I have read in a while. With characters that have faults, insecurities and secrets, the possibility for the “who did it” is great, and the mystery that Maddy decided to investigate is not the only shady dealing in this little town.  Determining friend from foe, innocent from suspect was truly a puzzle, for both Maddy and I, and even when the book ends, there are still several unanswered questions.  All to be picked up in the proposed books 2 and 3 of this series.  With an incredibly steamy and sexy romance, the frustration that Adam must have felt just oozes through the pages as the author keeps you waiting to see if they will have their moments, or just dance about in a haze of sexual attraction and excitement.  A truly unique work that was a page turner, with a climax that was unexpected and clever.  An author to watch, especially for the subsequent books in this series.  I received an eBook copy from the author for review for Full Moon Bites tours. I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Love a good romance novel! I bought another of S R Grey’s books and since I enjoyed it so much I decided to give another of her books a try. I really like her writing style and felt drawn into the story right from the beginning, like I was there alongside the characters.  As a romance novel this book was great but it’s also a fantastic mystery! I loved the suspense and the back and forth, never knowing who to trust. The chemistry between Maddy and Adam was hot but I was torn between routing for them and not trusting Adam. I felt for Maddy and didn’t want her to get hurt (again). Read through this book within two days, definitely will be checking out S R Grey’s other books!!

The author paints a very vivid picture with descriptive visuals that make everything in "Harbour Falls" come to life and jump off the page. This book was filled with more twists and turns than a labyrinth, but at the end MOST things were wrapped up in a neat little bow. Everything that wasn't meant to lead into book 2, that is. The plot is intricate and winding, and each scene has a purpose. My reason for 4 stars instead of 5? I think that, even for an investigator/mystery writer, miss Maddy Fitch is way too nosy. I feel like her unending need to know things would land her in a lot more trouble in real life. Luckily for her, this is fiction. Also, I'm not a fan of Mr. Adam Ward. I feel like he's a bit too macho for his shorts. I dig the whole Alpha Male thing, (because who doesn't want a guy who's loaded, attractive, and in charge?) but I'm not big on the way he treats Maddy. Maybe some folks like being put down by someone they're interested in. Just not my thing. Overall, the book was decent.

This book kept my interest because the mystery was enthralling. But I wasn't very fond of the herione (Maddy). She acted like a spoiled, manipulative "petulant child" most of the time. And to be a Yale graduate she wasn't very bright. The hero (Adam) was a little too perfect. Any real man wouldn't have put up with her childish behavior. I know this is fiction but it should be a bit more believable. The author kept referring to Maddy's father as "the Mayor" ( yeah we got that the first time we were told). The sex was not offensive to me and the setting was nice and well described. I will not be reading the next book in the series though for the reasons I just listed.

Why is it that no one can write a good clean novel anymore. All the gutter language is not necessary. Maybe some people think it makes a better read, but it doesn't. I will not read any more books by this author. I didn't finish this one. I thought I was going to read a mystery. Instead it's just gutter trash. I only gave one star because I had to.

The book was a nice mystery but the sex that was added had nothing to do with the storyline. This is why I stopped reading NR.

I couldn't make it through this one. The plotline of the romance was very unrealistic compared to the rest of the characterizations of the book. It felt like the romance was pulled straight out of 50 Shades of Grey and at times seemed like I was reading about two different heroines--one a confident, successful, intelligent author and the other an insecure girl who was way too over-awed by the wealthy owner of the island who immediately began to put the moves on her and reduced her to a schoolgirl with a crush that rendered her speechless in his presence.

Wow. This female protagonist made me cringe. She has zero self-esteem, evidenced by the fact that she pretty much gave in to the guy whatever he demanded of her and accepted his condescending and passive/aggressive behavior without complaint. I wish I could have reached through the pages and slapped her. And way too many sex "scenes." It was what I imagine a Harlequin Romance novel must be like. I read it for the murder mystery, not the porn.

The characters, the plotline, the mystery, and the sexual tension... it's all so captivating making this such a great read.

“Best-selling author of several novels” Maddy Fitch has returned to her hometown in northern Maine. Ostensibly dealing with a case of writers’ block, she’s really far more interested in solving an old murder case, where the chief suspect is Adam, a guy she had a crush on long years ago. It turns out Adam is just as handsome and enigmatic as ever, but does his secrecy hide shyness, pride, or guilt? And will Maddy survive falling in love? The mystery is nicely hidden in this tale, but uninvestigated clues and frantic conclusions might frustrate some readers. Romance is well-hidden at times as well, with two characters who can’t seem to choose between being unable to keep their hands off each other, or being unable to speak a line of truth. Mixed signals and lack of communication abound with sweetly suggestive strawberries, maxed out credit cards, and long digressions into inner dialog because, well, Adam is really attractive and he really might be guilty. “[H]ere I am again, rehashing the facts,” muses Maddy. But where will they lead? Harbour Falls is a long slow read, perfect for long evenings dreaming of a beautiful island with wild weather, wild passion, and wild plot. Disclosure: I was given a free ecopy during the author’s blog tour and I offer my honest review.
